PURPOSE OF POSITION

  • Lead the Communication & Public Affairs function in Taiwan
  • Build trust and reputation of the Company amongst internal and external stakeholders through Communication, Patient Advocacy & Public Affairs strategies and programs that position the Company as an innovator and shape the environment to enable timely and broad access to our medicines in prioritised Therapeutic Areas
  • Play an active role in the local Leadership Team, providing strategic counsel to the Taiwan Managing Director and Leadership Team

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Lead development and execution of insight-led and measurable Communication, Patient Advocacy & Public Affairs strategies and programs that position the Company as an innovator and shape the environment to enable timely and broad access to our medicines in prioritised Therapeutic Areas
  • Lead development and execution of an insight-led and measurable employee communication strategy and plan to increase employee engagement
  • Collaborate with regional and global internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment of Communication, Patient Advocacy & Public Affairs strategies and plans with local, regional and global priorities
  • Build and maintain deep external and internal networks, and a broad understanding of the business, competitor and industry priorities, to shape strategies and plans
  • Develop compelling and compliant communications that engage internal and external stakeholders
  • Take ownership of, and lead, the internal approval process for all Communication & Public Affairs related activities in Taiwan
  • Serve as media spokesperson for the Company in Taiwan
  • Serve as the single point of contact for patient groups in prioritized Therapeutic Areas in Taiwan
  • Serve as the Communications, Patient Advocacy and Public Affairs lead for all crises and issues in Taiwan, collaborating, and ensuring alignment with regional and global internal stakeholders
  • Ensure delivery of plans within agreed budget and timelines
  • Serve as line manager for one team member based in Taiwan

ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in journalism, communications, public affairs or business
  • 10+ years  experience in managing communication, patient advocacy and/or public affairs programs in Taiwan as part of a global multinational pharmaceutical company or agency
  • Proven track record in developing and executing impactful and measurable:
    • Employee communication programs
    • Communication & public affairs programs in multiple Therapeutic Areas, including oncology and immunology.
    • Crisis and issues management programs
  • In-depth knowledge of media and patient group environment in Taiwan, and demonstrated ability to build impactful and compliant relationships with external stakeholders, including media and patient groups
  • Experience of working effectively across a matrix organization, influencing and partnering with leadership teams and cross-functional business teams at a local, regional and/or global level
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) in Mandarin Chinese and English
  • Experience in serving as media spokesperson in Taiwan
  • Demonstrated experience in leveraging the full breadth of communication & public affairs channels available in Taiwan, including, for example traditional and social media.
