The HEMA & Government Affairs Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategies to enhance market access for health products in South Africa. This role collaborates with pricing, reimbursement, and research teams to generate evidence through economic modeling and budget impact analysis.
As a key advisor, this role leads health research studies, provides data-driven insights, and benchmarks performance against key metrics. Coaching teams in market access integration, managing budgets, and maintaining stakeholder relationships are essential responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health economics and a commitment to driving optimal value strategies while upholding the organization’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives.
Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities
Consultation and Strategy Development:
- Collaborate with local pricing, reimbursement, and outcomes research teams to define health economics goals and develop comprehensive evidence generations such as health economic modeling and budget impact analysis.
Benchmarking and Metrics:
- Evaluate successful achievements against key performance metrics by assessing healthcare environment needs and expectations.
- Establish and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external management decision-makers to support market access efforts.
Coaching and Training:
- Guide teams in integrating market access strategies into product plans, ensuring alignment with regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
- Mentor and train junior colleagues on techniques, processes, and responsibilities related to market access.
Strategic Execution:
- Execute critical market access deliverables to enhance presence at meetings with authorities, clients, industry groups, and other business partners.
Protocol Implementation:
- Approve and implement health access protocols, utilizing medical research and current economic intelligence to advocate for optimal value strategies within the organization.
Cultural Integration:
- Incorporate Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives into team objectives and decision-making processes, fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.
Budget Management:
- Oversee budgetary responsibilities for market access discretionary budgets, ensuring effective management and accountability of spending throughout the fiscal year.
Advisory Role:
- Serve as a key advisor on access strategies, engaging with global, clinical, and commercial product teams, along with area strategy groups to ensure a cohesive approach.
Nitelik
Bachelor’s degree in health economics, public health, business administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Relevant experience in health economics, market access, pricing, or reimbursement strategies within the healthcare industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven experience in budget management and strategic planning.
- Established level of credibility and strong understanding of the external stakeholders
- Mature, adaptive and flexible disposition to effectively interact with a range of diverse external stakeholders and senior level GA&P executives
- Good presence, outstanding interpersonal skills, and excellent leadership and influencing skills
- Strong organizational skills, time flexibility and ability to work under pressure
