Johnson and Johnson HCS, Inc. is recruiting for a field-based Associate Director, Therapy Access, Pulmonary Hypertension for the North Region.

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine’s Patient Engagement and Customer Solutions (PECS) team is recruiting for an Associate Director, Therapy Access to support the Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) portfolio in the North Region which includes Boston, Columbus, Cleveland, Indianapolis, North New Jersey, NYC/Long Island, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh.

PECS is committed to setting the standard on Patient Experience (Px), building more personalized, seamless, and supportive experiences to help patients start and stay on treatments across the portfolio.

The Associate Director is accountable for effectively leading, developing, and directly managing a team of Therapy Access Managers (TAM) who have field-based access & fulfillment related responsibilities across the Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension portfolio. The Associate Director is focused on ensuring healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers are enabled with the information, tools and resources needed to ensure patient ability to start and stay on therapy.

They will also foster communication across multiple JJIM departments including Patient Access and Affordability, Field Sales, Pharmacy Access, Marketing, Patient Experience, Medical and Market Access.

In this role the ideal candidate will:

  • Lead, motivate, coach, develop, and retain a diverse and talented team who are competent and skilled in the JJIM PAH business, the healthcare marketplace, and in access & fulfillment
  • Be responsible for leading their regionally aligned team of 8 direct reports to maximize access & fulfillment related impact for JJIM prescribed patients starting or staying on therapy.
  • Develop both long and short-term strategic planning for the team and manage seamless team execution of related tactics in a fast-paced environment.
  • Pull-through vision, create team culture, manage TAM performance, forge valuable customer relationships, and achieve the team’s overall goals.
  • Demonstrate core competencies and support team members in identifying, understanding, and addressing access & fulfillment related patient obstacles including knowledge of payer, access, policy, pharmacy benefit and specialty pharmacy.
  • Collaborate with partners (e.g., Sales District Managers, SCG, Marketing, etc.) and work in the field with minimal supervision.
  • Deliver insights and learnings on local/regional payer trends and market dynamics to help identify opportunities that can support the broader organization and help patients start and stay on therapy.
  • Manage and allocate budget in alignment with team objectives.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

All responsibilities of the Associate Director will be carried out with strict adherence to the JJIM Credo and HCC Guidelines, in line with the Field Reimbursement Managers (FRM) Rules of Engagement.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required. MBA or other related graduate level degree preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years healthcare business related experience required. A concentration in biopharmaceutical market access, field reimbursement or managed markets is preferred.
  • Knowledge of access and reimbursement principles including pharmacy benefit, prior authorization, and appeals processes.
  • 3 + years of direct people management / leadership
  • Demonstrated capabilities and performance success in prior roles
  • A valid Driver's License in one of the 50 United States
  • Reside within the geography or be willing to relocate to it

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or other advanced degree/relevant certifications preferred
  • Proven ability to navigate high profile, complex business circumstances.
  • Experience developing and executing customer-oriented strategies
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a matrix environment
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills
  • Experience in the rare disease space

This role involves travel up to 75 % of the time.

This position is eligible for a company car through the Company’s FLEET program.

The base pay range for this position is $118,000 to $203,550. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
