For the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Africa), Johnson & Johnson Surgical Vision is searching for a LEADER OF MARKET ACCESS, responsible for developing and implementing reimbursement strategies in current and emerging markets, to create market access through payors contracting with a defined Value-Based healthcare story leading to revenue generation and improved patient care.

This position can be based in Madrid (ES), Zug (CH), Ettlingen (DE), Amersfoort (NL).

Main areas of responsibility:

•    Develop/localize and implement regional payor and insurance company reimbursement strategies for current and future products to ensure successful product launch and adoption. 
•    Working with EMEA & Cluster teams with a deep understanding of tendering models and legal framework, being able to implement and execute Market Access strategies in collaboration with Commercial teams in the Clusters i.e., develop appropriate patient access programs and materials, and risk sharing agreements enabling commercial teams to offer a differentiated solution for JJSV. 
•    Contribute to the value proposition development and support the cluster execution of Johnson & Johnson Surgical Vision offering to Hospital Administrations in order that Hospital to contract with payors and policy decision makers which will include Johnson & Johnson Surgical Vision products. 
•    Planning and preparing for a value proposition that delivers a value analysis/Value based healthcare messaging story of JJSV products. o Manage consultancy vendor relationships where external expertise is sought, as necessary, to ensure timely delivery of project/program objectives within budget. 
•    Maintaining knowledge of the key market access and reimbursement requirements, issues, clinical/therapeutic expertise for JJSV products and key competitors. 
•    Submitting [1] annual objectives and business plans aligned with departmental and business goals; and [2] timely expense reports and other reports. 
•    Additional assignments which will include projects with Global Health Economics & Market Access (HEMA) teams alongside other geographical regions that Surgical Vision have presence in.


•    Bachelors’ degree required (Life Sciences, Business, Health Economics or similar) advanced degree desirable. 
•    Previous leadership roles or demonstration of coaching key stakeholders within the organization and sales team members on market access, access programs and successful track record of implementation. 
•    Self-starter with a minimum of five years demonstrated market access (payor, policy maker, reimbursement) experience with [1] medical device, and or pharmaceutical products; [2] Proven track record in being the driving force influencer or setting up risk share agreement contracts between Hospitals and payors/insurance companies; [3] Proven network of key strategic hospital administration contacts [4] Working directly for a Payor or Insurance company would be desirable. Previous experience with Ophthalmology and Surgical products is desirable, but not essential.
•    Expertise in initiating and executing negotiations with [1]reimbursement and payor decision makers; [2] hospital administration departments; and [3] other stakeholders such Medical Societies. 
•    Previous experience working cross-functionally with Clinical, Customer Support, Government Affairs, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Medical Marketing, Regulatory and Sales teams to support product launches and educate sales professionals, and external customers regarding the value and reimbursement opportunities for JJSV products.
•    Ideally this person has had exposure and experience in contributing to a Market Access study designs in Evidence generation, working with a cross-functional team mentioned previously with a strong interaction between Marketing, Medical Affairs, Clinical Affairs and Research and Development.
•    Able to travel - approximately 50% of the time - to meet with [1] key hospital administration departments; [2] key surgeons; [3] national & regional payors [4] the sales team members; and [5] attend key national policy and medical society congresses and hospital medical controller events in the EMEA region.
•    Demonstration of ability to influence senior leaders internally and externally in current position a critical component of this role.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary to work with internal and external customers and in a team-based environment. Ability to present thoughts in a clear, concise, and logical manner.
•    Excellent analytical, problem-solving, project and time management skills. Fluent English [written/spoken] and other European languages desirable not essential.
•    Proficient with [1] laptop computer and various business software programs [Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word]; [2] the Internet.
•    Valid European driving license is desirable
