In the role of Scientific Director, you will lead a team that supports innovative platforms e.g., complex IPSC cellular models of disease and high content imaging to identify novel targets and validate them sufficiently to enter the Neuroscience Discovery Portfolio. You will work closely with our Data Science colleagues to leverage large data sets e.g. proteomics and transcriptomics, as well as genetic and real-world evidence data to shape the discovery portfolio. Your group will be instrumental for us to continue building a transformational Neuroscience portfolio to develop novel treatments for Neurodegenerative and Neuropsychiatric Diseases. This will require excellent communication and teamwork skills, an appetite for innovation, and a keen attention to detail and organization. You should have a considerable sense of purpose and drive, be mindful of the considerable unmet medical need and imperative to generate impactful therapeutics in Neuroscience and embody the critical importance of translation of insights from biology and data science to the vision and mission of Johnson & Johnson.

Your Key Responsibilities:

    • approaches to accelerate drug development using high dimensionality data (e.g., high content imaging, transcriptomics and proteomics data) combined with advanced analytics.
    • value of human data in precision drug development including molecular datasets and human cell models
  • This position will typically have 1-2 direct reports.

  • A PhD degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience in Neuroscience research or 7 years of demonstrable experience in Pharmaceutical R&D.
  • Demonstrated experience working with human cell models to develop a platform used identify and validate novel druggable targets for Neurodegenerative and Neuropsychiatry disease.
  • A proven track record of target identification and validation in the Neuroscience field, this should be reflected in publications in peer reviewed journals.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the drug discovery process.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong internal network with cross-functional groups required to operationalize and drive portfolio progression.
