Abiomed is seeking a highly organized and detailed-oriented Project Manager in Danvers, MA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in event planning and complex project management, particularly in the scientific field. Reporting to the Director of Academic Research, the Project Manager of Research Symposia and Sponsored Research Studies will manage the execution of Abiomed’s annual A-CURE Symposium, the world’s only scientific meeting dedicated to advancing the science of cardiac unloading and support the larger A-CURE initiative throughout the year. The PM will also support the operational execution of translational sponsored research studies within the research portfolio of Abiomed and the Academic Research Group. This global role is an integral part of the Academic Research group at Abiomed and will be directly involved in the expansion of Abiomed’s research network and capabilities.  


  • Develop comprehensive event plans, including budgets, timelines, and logistics. 

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define event objectives, themes, and goals. 

  • Create event marketing strategies to attract relevant participants. 

  • Work with subject matter experts to develop compelling and high-impact event agendas. 

  • Maintain a regular cadence of scientific Faculty meetings and A-CURE Executive Committee meetings, and multidisciplinary internal teams. 

  • Collaborate with internal A-CURE leadership team to advance key projects, and host sub-committee meetings as necessary.  

  • Maintain project management trackers and assist in update presentations as needed. 

  • Drive dissemination of scientific and clinical content generated by the A-CURE Working Group and/or presented at the A-CURE Symposia. 

  • Coordinate with speakers, presenters, panelists and attendees to ensure they are prepared and have the necessary resources. 

  • Oversee the contracting, documentation, and milestone achievement of specific company-sponsored research programs. 

  • Assure that all event activities and expenses are aligned with guidance from Compliance. 

  • Communicate with attendees to provide event information and support.  

  • Facilitate networking opportunities and engagement activities during the events. 

  • Collect and analyze feedback continually to improve future events.  



  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree, preferably in biological science. 

  • Minimum 8+ years’ experience in event planning, project management, or similar role. Experience within a medical device, life sciences, or scientific industry preferred. 

  • Proven experience in scientific event planning and management.  

  • Ability to successfully manage relationships with KOLs. 

  • Understanding of pre-clinical or clinical research program execution. Clinical project manager experience is a plus. 

  • Polished communication and organizational skills. 

  • High attention to details and accuracy 

  • Excellent prioritization, organizational skills, and advanced, metric-driven project management skills  

  • Willing to travel 5-10% of the time to support study initiatives and events as required.
