Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Consumer Health business to create a new publicly traded company. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 24 months, and it will be subject to legal requirements including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as required, and other customary conditions and approvals.

In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to the successful candidate by New Consumer Health at an appropriate time and would be subject to any necessary consultation processes.

Data Analytics & Digital Acceleration is a newly formed team that will lead the transformation of Consumer Health towards a data and digital-first culture with the deployment of rapid, high-value end-to-end (E2E) data products and solutions. This team will be responsible for targeted E2E Data and Digital outcomes that require a cross-functional focus to unlock our growth strategy leveraging Data Science/AI and Intelligent Automation. The team is business-led, technology-enabled, and will be responsible for achieving the Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health 3-year strategic growth objectives viz. Net Trade Sales Acceleration, Gross Profit Optimization, and Free Cash flow optimization. w optimization. One of the key focus areas for this team will be to build E2E data products and an enterprise-wide semantic layer and incubate high-value solutions. We are recruiting a Lead Data Product Owner to join our Data Analytics and Digital Acceleration team and help us push forward our data and digital-first vision! This position may be based in Skillman, NJ, or New Brunswick, NJ, and open to consideration of talent at any major Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health Office location globally (as well as Remote). 

As a key leader in the Data Analytics and Digital Acceleration Team, this role will be uniquely positioned to work collaboratively with strategic external partners and leaders across the business and technology. They will collaborate to passionately understand our data needs, help define and operationalize our approach and roadmap to building high-value data products and a semantic data layer that supports our functions and regions, provide data product leadership across data domains, and ultimately enable outcomes that matter in our local markets. 

As a strategic problem solver, technologist, and expert data product leader, this role will empower our technology and business partners through the design and delivery of high-quality data products and insights that will be foundational in achieving our digital-first ambitions.  

Key Responsibilities:

The Lead Data Product Owner will grow and lead a cross-functional team of full-time direct reports and dotted line resources to: 

  • Develop and execute 360 data product strategy and roadmap: Help develop a strategy for 360 data products, create ROI/investment proposals, and establish a product delivery roadmap. Drive both data product design as well as model development from a combined business and technical perspective 

  • Build data products and incubate high-value solutions: Design and build function-specific data products, and end-to-end data products (e.g. Consumer 360, Customer 360, Product 360, Supplier 360, Finance 360, and Employee 360). Accountable for validating that products/deliverables meet the needs of the business 

  • Oversee data product ownership and business analysis on multiple product teams: Manage a team of Data Product Owners heading individual enterprise data domains in an agile environment, ensuring each data domain’s product opportunities and end use-cases come to fruition 

  • Translate ambiguous business needs into Data Product solutions: Coordinate with stakeholders across functions to capture business needs into clear user stories and data use-cases and align on the minimum viable product (MVP) scope. Maintain user stories in a prioritized backlog and effectively divide overall project goals into prioritized deliverables for sequential and focused progress 

  • Drive value realization: Establish and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and user feedback to continuously improve the product. Accurately use key data and metrics to support assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions 

  • Establish feedback channels and drive iterative improvements: Meet with end users on an ongoing basis to understand their use-cases and areas for improvement. Track product and feature usage to support data-driven decision-making around enhancements and new product launches. Drive adoption through collaboration and thoughtful change management strategies 

  • Partner with business and technology teams to evaluate cost-benefit: Leverage Solutions Architect and Lead Data Engineer to scope cost associated with initiatives. Engage business to define benefits and validate that intended ROI is in line with business expectations 

  • Provide Coaching and Data Product feedback: Conduct product reviews, give actionable feedback, and mentor junior team members. Coach product teams towards best practices and learnings. Oversee product teams' support of the messaging, communication, and stakeholder outreach as necessary 


  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Management, Business, or a similar field. An advanced degree is preferred 

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience providing data-powered products, platforms, or services, ideally with over 5 years in the Consumer Health industry 

  • A minimum of 5 years in product management, with a strong preference for data product management 

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in people management and managing multiple high-performing data product teams. Must be able to mentor Data Product Owners on best practices and development & production of sophisticated outputs 

  • Applied knowledge of agile product management methodologies (e.g. SAFe) 

  • Possess broad knowledge across the entire analytics lifecycle, including databases, data engineering, governance, and end-user workflows (e.g. analytics and data science), including advanced knowledge of products and services that are fueling data-driven decision-making and how they can be leveraged to support cross-functional workflows 

  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish rapport, credibility, and influence with stakeholders across the enterprise 

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders 

  • Strategic communicator with the ability to gather requirements from functional teams, garner support from engineering teams, and promote the adoption of products across the firm 

  • Business-minded with experience building business cases including cost-benefit analysis and monitoring OKRs and KPIs 

  • Strong SQL, Excel, and quantitative skills as well as experience with big data and/or complex data sets 

  • The ability to lead without reporting authority and achieve outcomes in a complex environment - leading through influence and deep collaboration across the enterprise 

  • The ability to manage ambiguity and shape new initiatives/businesses from scratch 

  • Strategic thinking and big picture orientation/business acumen with strong interactions with key stakeholders 

  • A credible executive with the ability to influence senior leadership across the enterprise while ensuring execution at all levels, including at the ITLT level (IT Leadership team reporting to the CIO/CDO) 

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills and ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels in the organization and with external credibility 

  • Has an innovative, agile, and high-performing team mindset 

  • Familiar with, and stays abreast of, technology thought leadership - latest advances in the market, trends, and modern technology frameworks (e.g., Agile, XOps) 

  • Functional familiarity with the following areas and technologies: 

  • Project Management: Jira, Confluence, Trello, Asana 

  • Analytics endpoints: PowerBi, Tableau, Looker 

  • Microsoft Office Suite: PowerPoint, Excel Word
