DePuy Synthes, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is hiring a Director, Robotics Systems Engineering to lead our systems engineering efforts. For this hybrid position the ability to access offices in either Boston, MA or Warsaw, IN is required.

Our Digital Orthopedic Surgery team is bringing innovation to patient care. We are using robotics and digital tools for surgical teams to increase the performance, accuracy, and safety of surgical procedures. We are crafting an extensible operating room ecosystem to support our surgical products. Our vision is to build a process of continuous improvement through analysis of intra-operative and post-operative surgical data. We are dedicated to improving patient outcomes through the advancement of medical technology.

You will play a key role on the forefront of digital and robotic technology for the orthopedic medical device industry. The team is looking for candidates that have a breadth of knowledge in robotics and/or software enabled electro-mechanical systems with a strong background in conceptual design and medical device product development. They will be self-motivated and be empowered to work independently.

This role is responsible for building technical capabilities and influencing the program’s direction and financial results through a sharing of technical expertise. At this level, the position has a direct contribution to business strategies and is responsible for leading and managing multiple teams of professionals. The Director is responsible for ensuring systems engineering teams implement, support & deliver business results consistent with the VELYS business strategy.

The best fit for this role will be someone who has a proven track record of optimally bringing sophisticated medical products and systems from concept to market on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with multi-functional leaders from Software, Hardware and Electrical to advance product development programs across our Digital programs.
  • Lead all aspects of the development of processes that ensure system risk management, requirements analysis, usability engineering, test engineering including system verification & validation, evidence generation, configuration management and reliability engineering are driven with robust and lean intention.
  • Lead Manage system and subsystem requirements including definition, traceability, and testing.
  • Work in partnership with other systems leaders both within J&J and external to benchmark and ensure continuous improvement of company business systems and work environment.
  • Develop, mentor and, train your team members to ensure a diverse and strong talent pipeline.

Kwalificaties

Required

  • BS in an engineering field, or equivalent
  • 12 years of proven experience working on new product development, with at least 5 years directly managing engineers
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within a highly empowered multi-functional team
  • Experience with standards such as IEC 62304, 62366, IEC 61508, or IEC 60601

Preferred Experience

  • Advanced degree in systems engineering or similar field
  • Experience with Siemens Polarion, PTC Windchill or any similar tools

Location and Travel:

  • Boston, MA or Warsaw, IN - Flexible Work Arrangements are available
  • This position may require up to 10% domestic and international travel
