The Lead, User Interface/User Experience Design will be responsible for creating standards for User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) of Global Training and Learning Operation’s learning content for both digital and print delivery including but not limited to developing and editing presentation media, layout designs, motion videos, graphics, and user interface. They will create great (UX) and have experience working within a user-centered design framework (e.g. design thinking) and using an iterative/agile process. They will translate high-level ideas into viable and functional UI/UX designs as part of a training program. They will design and develop in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma, Adobe XD, various video creation applications, eLearning Development Tools (Adobe Captivate, Articulate 360), staging platforms (Learning Management Systems, Learning Experience Platforms, SharePoints, Webpages) and other related software. They will be collaborative, organized and adaptive to learning and using new design tools and technologies. They will plan, design, document and manage UI/UX-related initiatives. They will manage a team of Visual and Information Designers. They will successfully work under minimal guidance with demonstrated problem-solving skills. They will be a self-starter and will comfortably communicate and discuss design ideas. They will collaborate across time zones with remote teammates. Communication skills, leadership skills, agility and attitude will be fundamental to the success of all our projects and to overall team success.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create standards following UI/UX principles, and ensuring the learning products create value to the learners’ experience. Learning products include, but are not limited to, eLearning modules, instructor guides, webpages, student guides, PowerPoint presentations, motion graphic videos, infographics, quick reference guides, checklists, job aids
- Support research to identify user needs, motivations, and value drivers, and provide actionable recommendations for the learning products to the Learning Experience Designers, eLearning Developers, and Visual Designers
- Abiding by: GS branding guidelines; Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2); J&J Digital Accessibility playbook; they will create style guides, UX map, template designs, and prototypes for various types of learning products and will advise eLearning developers on template and layout designs
- Collaborate with other teams within and outside of GS to evangelize UI/UX strategies

- Learning Design & Development Team: Visual and Information Designer Lead, Training Technologist Lead, eLearning Courseware Development Lead, Learning Experience Designer Lead, QA Lead

- Clarify UI/UX goals of stakeholders and ensure that these goals are met with the final product
- Supervise a team of Visual and Information Designers to:
- Oversee their project work
- Assign tasks
- Attend project meetings as needed
- Manage team’s workloads to ensure output is high quality and on-time
- Clarify and communicate priorities
- Develop, coach and engage direct reports to build a high-performance team
- Track and report project status’ and provide requested and required data to ensure SLAs are met
- Translate collaborative design thinking ideas quickly and clearly into mockups and prototypes of learning deliverables
- Fluent in using current tools and methods, but also be open to investigate and learn to use new tools
- Work with Learning Experience Designers and stakeholders to understand learner needs and behaviors and to bring concepts to life, while maintaining UX best practices
- Articulate alternative design approaches and defend design and UI/UX choices citing research, usability and user experience standards
- Adhere to defined quality assurance guidelines and processes such as:
- Apply quality assurance guidelines to ensure accuracy of training materials and removal of protected information
- Assist with the testing and review of learning content prior to launching via the SUMMIT LMS
- Upload accurate documents and/or source files to the internal content library as per established guidelines
- Identify need for additional tools and applications and provides recommendations to Manager, Training Development and Technology
- Lead special projects and initiatives as assigned, as well as come up with self-started initiatives in relation to their job description
- Adhere to company practices, policies and Credo-based culture, and set an example for other team members. Utilize established company tools/methodology as needed or required
- Apply project management principles to deliver training development support to stakeholders
- Work with manager/coach to set goals for growth and development
- Support global culture of continuous improvement, identify areas for improvement on daily operational processes to drive data accuracy and global compliance
- Communicate and interact effectively and develop credibility and trusted mutually respected relationships with customers, stakeholders, leadership and team members
- Build and expand design systems for different assets basing on J&J Visual & Verbal guidelines
- Responsible for creating and approving visual design of assets created by the TD&T team
- Champion the J&J 5 Conversations to drive performance, accountability, career growth and development
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, where team members can identify areas for improvement on daily operational processes to drive data accuracy and global compliance and provide support to implement these initiatives by highlighting and discussing key changes/improvement programs with leadership and the appropriate stakeholders

- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- A minimum of 5 years related design, development and technical experience using tools such as Microsoft PowerPoint and Word, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, various video creation applications and/or other related software is required.
- Experience designing visualizations of content and complex experiences such as flows, scenarios, personas and prototypes is required.
- Understanding of graphic design, layout principles and UI/UX is required.
- Experience in developing user personas and user journeys is required.
- Experience in developing UI/UX prototypes using Adobe XD, Figma, or similar tools is required.
- Ability to interpret standard storyboard designs and convert them finalized deliverables is required.
- Experience designing layouts for training that will be accessed via mobile device is preferred.
- Experience in leading a team is preferred.
- Ability to present content that tells a meaningful story to the learner and creative and writing abilities including storytelling and the ability to produce short, punchy copy for different mediums and various audiences is preferred.
- Photography and Video editing experience is required.
- Experience with developing UI/UX design for training purposes is preferred.
- Discretion, professionalism, confidentiality and judgement is required.
- Ability to work effectively (e.g. provide on-time and quality deliverables) in a fast-paced, self-directed team-based environment is required.

- This position will require approximately 10%-15% of domestic and international travel, depending on business need.
