Janssen Research & Development LLC, a Johnson & Johnson company, is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on drug target identification/evaluation for neurodegenerative diseases in our Population Analytics & Insights group, Data Sciences organization. The primary location for this position is our campus at Spring House, PA in United States. Consideration can be given to qualified candidates in looking to work remotely (in US) as well.

At the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, we are working to create a world without disease. Transforming lives by finding new and better ways to prevent, intercept, treat and cure disease inspires us. We bring together the best minds and pursue the most promising science.

We are Janssen. We collaborate with the world for the health of everyone in it. Learn more at www.janssen.com and follow us @JanssenGlobal. Janssen Research & Development, LLC is part of the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies.

The Data Science Analytics & Insights team within Janssen R&D develops innovative solutions using a variety of data sources across multiple different disease areas. We are looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow who will work on a precision medicine project of neurodegeneration diseases aiming to identify biomarkers for disease subtypes and patient stratification, to identify and prioritize drug targets by integration and analyses of multi-omics data sets.

Key responsibilities:

The postdoctoral fellow will be primarily responsible for analyzing proteomics data of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma, integrating proteomics with other types of omics data (e.g. genomics, transcriptomics) and identifying patterns associated with neurodegenerative pathologies. We strive to 1) identify disease signatures and biomarkers for patient stratification; 2) propose cause genes and pathways that can be potentially targeted through pharmacological modulation.

The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with a team of scientists on disease genetics, computational genomics, AI and machine learning and neuroscience therapeutic areas to design and implement computational approaches, analyze and interpret the results, and communicate their findings through internal presentations, conferences and scientific publications. T hey will also have opportunities to collaborate with other researchers and institutions on related projects.

  • Conceiving, developing and implementing analytics solutions to high-priority scientific problems.
  • Evaluating current and developing novel methodologies and workflow to address challenges, problems in omics integration.
  • Developing and implementing workflow for data processing and harmonization.
  • Participating in cross-functional collaborations with external academics and internal scientific and data science teams.
  • Shaping internal collaborations and define the scope of research questions.
  • Extracting insight from complex, interrelated omics data to improve target discovery/nomination/validation and precision healthcare (e.g., biomarker identification, patient stratification, disease mechanism insights).
  • Publishing findings in top biomedical journals/conferences.
  • Clearly articulating highly technical methods and results to diverse audiences and partners to drive decision-making.

資格

The successful candidate will have a strong background in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field, and experience working with genetics and large, multi-omics data integration and network analysis.

  • A Ph.D. in a quantitative field – bioinformatics, computational biology, systems biology, statistical genetics, or a related field
  • A strong publication record in the relevant areas is required.
  • Proficient in programming and database languages such as Python/R, bash, SQL, etc
  • Experience with GWAS, fine-mapping, causal inference is required.
  • Experience with multi-omics data integration, especially the molecular QTLs, and network analysis is required.
  • Experience/knowledge with Alzheimer's disease is preferred.
  • Experience with eQTL and pQTL calling is preferred.
  • Experience with transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics and single-cell data analysis is preferred.
  • Experience with research of neurodegeneration diseases or related diseases is preferred.
  • Experience with R shiny and markdown is a plus.
  • Excellent documentation, written and oral communication skills, has ability to effectively communicate technical work to a wide audience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and is passionate about using data to drive scientific innovation/insight.
