The successful candidate will lead a small team of dedicated in vivo pharmacologists supporting the advancement of a variety of projects within the areas of metabolism, metabolic complications and/or cardiovascular disease indications.
The Senior Principal Scientist will have a strong background in metabolic disorders and/or complications and proven record in bringing forward novel drug discovery ideas and development candidates. The qualified candidate will have demonstrated experience in designing and executing physiological experiments in translational disease models to test efficacy, mechanism of action, establishing PK/PD relationships and support dose predictions for novel drug candidates.
The qualified candidate will work in cross-functional teams, including program project teams, translational medicine, discovery, biomarker teams, and disease-specific working groups, to shape a discovery and pharmacology strategy for novel drug candidates and will bring forward innovative ideas, novel translational animal models and advanced technologies to support long-term plans.
The position has a strong focus on project and team leadership. The scientific supervision, mentoring and management of junior scientists will be part of daily activities. The Senior Principal Scientist drives collaboration and teams, is responsible achieving pipeline objectives and assigns appropriate resources within timeline and budgetary constraints. Scientific accomplishments will be presented internally and externally to the scientific community and discussed with key opinion leaders.

  • Ph.D. degree in metabolism or metabolic complications with at least 8 years academic faculty or industry experience OR a MS degree in metabolism or metabolic complications with at least 12 years academic faculty or industry experience is required
  • Competency in team leadership and people management is required
  • Proven record in discovery and development of novel therapeutic entities including progression and screening of novel drug candidates, pharmacokinetic/dynamic and mechanistic studies in preclinical disease models is required
  • Experience in the development and validation of novel translational models and expertise in drug metabolism is required
  • Peer reviewed publication record in relevant fields, including participation in preparation of manuscripts patents, pharmacology reports and program reviews is necessary
  • A background in drug discovery in biotech or pharmaceutical industry, and extensive experience in preclinical disease models in metabolic and/or cardiovascular disease is required
