The National Sales Director is a key leadership position within the Immunology franchise and JBI organization. He/she will be responsible for strategically leading a team of RBDs with responsibility for our Gastroenterology Franchise. This team will be responsible for the selling effort of STELARA, SIMPONI and REMICADE within physician offices, in-office infusion centers and hospitals for our approved IBD indications. This position is responsible for: Strategic Planning and Tactical Sales Execution : Collaborating with a cross-functional brand team and critical business partners to shape the portfolio strategy and lead the sales execution, field operations and brand tactics across the portfolio; as well as potential co-promotions with other Johnson & Johnson companies. This leader must ddemonstrate a firm grasp of industry trends, understand market conditions, develop and deploy actions quickly to stay ahead of the competition and inspire/motivate a large selling organization. The National Sales Director will be required to identify and capitalize on opportunities within the dynamic marketplace, while keeping the patient and customer central to all thinking for self and the team. The National Sales Director, will also be responsible for working collaboratively with peers across the Immunology and broader Janssen business to drive business results, align to strategic choices and lead projects focused on enterprise growth.
This Sales Leader must be proficient in; Leadership, Strategic Thinking, Driving Execution, Talent Management, creating a Winning Culture and Communicating up, down and across the organization to effectively manage the following requirements of the job.
He/She will Collaborate with business partners to develop, communicate and administer: sales forecasts, sales call plan, sales incentive plan, MBOs and overarching large account strategy. Work with Strategic Customer Group to develop customer focused contracting solutions and hold RBD team accountable for field execution. Deliver Business Results through alignment with brand strategies and in accordance with Health Care Compliance guidelines. Analyze sales and operations data to monitor sales progress and develop corrective plans to improve sales force effectiveness/efficiency. Analyze financial metrics of sales organization effectiveness, including budgeting, allocation/deployment of resources, return on investment strategies, etc. Create a high performance work environment in which he/she builds accountability at all levels in the organization through empowerment, involvement and collaboration. Champion for positive change and improvement. Create an environment where new ideas, alternative strategies and innovative thinking are valued and explored, while remaining compliant to Company standards. Talent Development: Drive mastery of requisite skills (business, selling skills, therapeutic understanding, territory management, etc.) across the sales organization by partnering with Sales Training and identifying key areas for development and developing appropriate curriculum. Provide leadership for field management to ensure the recruitment, retention and development of a diverse pool of talent at all levels of sales management. Ensure field force has completed appropriate training to ensure compliance to J&J training standards. This is not an exhaustive, comprehensive listing of job functions. Undergraduate degree (B.A. /B.S. required); Masters in related field or M.B.A is preferred. Candidates should have a proven track record of success with a minimum of 10 years cross functional experience in key Commercial & Sales Leadership roles (ex. Sales, marketing, strategic marketing, payer/access experience, analytics, international experience, NBD). Must have extensive, diverse cross functional experience, including a minimum of 8 years brand marketing and/or strategic marketing. Very strong direct people management and leadership experience required, including prior experience leading management level teams is required. Prior experience in sales as either a professional sales representative, DM or RBD is preferred. Demonstrated capabilities and traits for career path versatility to progress to other key roles are preferred. . Ability to lead, develop, coach and engage high performing, diverse teams is required. Very strong communication skills. Very strong demonstrated leadership skills consistent with the J&J Leadership Imperatives (Connect / Shape / Deliver / Lead). Demonstrated high level of commercial capabilities and clear cycles of success in prior commercial roles. Ability to maximize business opportunities and insights. Strong ability to innovate, collaborate and deliver results. Significant travel (approximately 30%-40%) including sales and medical meetings, training and field visits.
