Ethicon Endo Surgery Inc., a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Sterilization Specialist III- 3rd shift to be located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The Ethicon Surgical Care business offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies—including sutures, surgical staplers, clip appliers, trocars and synthetic mesh devices—that are used in a wide variety of minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women’s health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity. •Mechanical knowledge and skill in working with pneumatics, hydraulics, cables, sheaves, pumps, bearings, rollers, chains, fans and mechanical fasteners.
•Beginning skills in Welding (Arc, MIG and TIG), and Cutting.
•Beginning skills in machine shop operation - CNC mill operation and programming.
•Knowledge of Electrical wiring / controls – work safely around electricity (Lockout/Tagout & Arc Flash).
•Beginning skills in Programmable logic controller (PLC) operations.
•Knowledge of advanced motion control systems (Servo’s and VFD’s)
•Use of voltage and current monitoring equipment
•Mechanical/Electrical engineering skills a plus – able to solve issues using analytical tools and skill level.
•Overall responsibility for irradiation units.
•Daily production and operation of units.
•Maintain record keeping of units.
•Coordinate and plan material flow for units.
•Place, retrieve and read dosimeters.
•Process special requests.
•With very limited supervision, perform mechanical and electrical repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment installation and modification to a variety of production equipment.
•Coordinate equipment maintenance, modifications and installations with other maintenance technicians, plant personnel and contractors.
•Complete, in a professional manner, maintenance logs, parts requisitions, preventive maintenance inspection/repair records, drawing revision documentation and other required maintenance documentation.
•Recognize system and equipment problems and take necessary corrective action.
•Participate in and accept responsibilities relating to the Sterilization team.
•Adhere to strict safety procedures.
•Available to work overtime, be available for emergency call-in, and work all three shifts of a rotating shift when required (including weekends).
•Exhibit safe work habits in handling of equipment, tools and use of protective equipment.
•Follow all company safety policies and other safety precautions within the lab/shop/manufacturing area.
•Attend required safety training.
•Promote safety to all associates that enter the work area
•Report to radiation safety officer or sterilization engineer
•Other responsibilities may be assigned and not all responsibilities listed may be assigned.
•Environmental – Participate in implementation of the EMS management system including continual improvement; pollution prevention; objectives and targets; and regulatory compliance. Implement and follow all applicable EMS procedures. Adhere to the site’s EHS Code of Conduct.
•Completion of associate’s degree, technical schools or apprentice program and / or qualifying combination of experience and education such as a current Irradiator Technician for 2 or more years of experience.
•Prefer four (4) years’ experience working as a mechanical and electrical technician, in an industrial manufacturing facility.
•Mechanical knowledge and skill in working with pneumatics, hydraulics, cables, sheaves, pumps, bearings, rollers, chains, fans and mechanical fasteners
•Lockout/Tagout & Arc Flash preferred
•PLC experience preferred
•Experience with radiation a plus
•Allen Bradley programmable logic controller
•Microsoft Word and Excel
•Long periods of walking and standing.
•Bend, stoop and reach occasionally.
•Climb ladders and work at heights 8 feet above the floor
•Some office deskwork, requiring sitting, walking, reaching and using the phone and computer.
•May require lifting of loads under 30 lb regularly
•Occasionally lift loads over 30 lbs but less than 50 lbs
•High Noise Levels from Automated Equipment
•Previous manufacturing experience required.
•Knowledge of GMP and ISO requirements.
•PC skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
•Standard hours are 10:00pm to 6:00am Monday- Friday, but requires some flexibility for weekends and holidays.
