The Scientist will contribute to biochemistry/molecular biology and pathology projects within the Experimental Pathology (Exploratory Biology) group of Janssen Biotherapeutics. As a Scientist responsibilities will include:
Independently perform/develop routine and innovative biochemical cell/tissue-based methodologies in support of early stages of drug discovery (e.g. qPCR, RNA/DNA extraction, western blotting, cell culture, and cell-based assays as needed)
Perform image analysis using various analysis platforms (Visiopharm, HALO) under guidance of management and in collaboration with other group members
Perform immunohistochemistry (IHC)/in situ hybridization (ISH) under the guidance of management and develop proficiency using automated platforms (Ventana Discovery Ultra/Leica Bond RX)
Familiarity with gene delivery methodologies and analysis
Learn and apply early drug discovery approaches in a multidisciplinary team environment
Analyze data and present results at program team meetings
Attend and present data at in-house seminars and external scientific conferences as required
Assist laboratory personnel as needed
Maintain communication and transparency with management and customers.
Independently generate and interpret data in compliance with appropriate regulations, policies and SOPs
Maintain timely and accurate electronic notebook
Provide subject matter expertise to colleagues as needed
A Ph.D in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology/pathology, or related fields with at least 1-3 years of postdoctoral experience is preferred. Masters candidates with 6+ years of experience in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology/pathology is required
Expertise with assay development using biochemical and/or cell-based methods is required
Expertise with molecular biology (e.g. PCR, RNA/DNA extraction, western blotting, bioinformatics) is required.
Expertise with quantitative data analysis and strong computing skills are required
Excellent written/verbal communication and oral presentation skills are required
Experience in molecular pathology is preferred
Experience with gene delivery methodologies is preferred
- Experience in image analysis is preferred
This role is based in Spring House, PA and may require up to 10% of domestic and international travel
