The Surgical Account Specialist (SAS) will provide clinical & technical support, troubleshooting and training to Physicians, OR Surgical Technicians, Nurses, Administrators, and Distributor staff regarding all aspects of DePuy Synthes systems (instruments, implants and equipment). The SAS will stay current on company products instructions for use, best practices, technical troubleshooting as well as relevant scientific clinical literature and new product information. Will be required to maintain advanced clinical and technical knowledge of all orthopedic surgical procedures, advancements, and the orthopedic business landscape.

Clinical & Technical Support
 Provide clinical & technical support (perform surgery instrumentation) to Physicians, Hospital Staff and Distributors regarding all aspects of the company’s orthopedic systems; during scheduled and non-scheduled orthopedic procedures.
 Maximize customer case support capability through efficient planning and scheduling techniques, driving collaboration, maintaining consistent open lines of communication with external and internal stakeholders.
 Deliver business results, take the initiative and persevere to overcome challenges.
 Provide technical advice on the proper use of the products, the preoperative review, count, assembly and use of the implants, instruments and motors in the operating room
 Train physicians and hospital staff on product usage, surgical techniques and protocols
 Prioritize and appropriately respond to requests in a high-stress environment, maintaining composure and problem-solving focus during high-pressured interactions
 Ensure completeness of the equipment and implants; clean and disinfect instruments after procedures, as required by institution
 Ensure the correct processing of expense sheets and consumption forms, to effectively relate the products used in each procedure, with signatures, stamps, and stickers as appropriate and in the required quantities
 Request for replacement of used material for the institution
 Report cancelled surgeries, and include the reason for cancellation
 Report equipment state, if any equipment is damaged (during or outside of surgery) ensure replacement process is initiated
 Assist scheduled and non-scheduled surgeries in other institutions when there is a business need

Customer Engagement
 Support end-to-end selling process of appropriate products and focus on driving growth among previous and new accounts as well as expand access and sales opportunities in a manner that is concise, compliant, professional, ethical and persuasive; and which leads the customer to action.
 Develop customer relationships within and beyond surgical suite, including, but not limited to physicians, nurses and technicians
 Identify business opportunities, weaknesses and strengths of the franchise and provide information to sales representatives
 Demonstrate credible, clinical knowledge to appropriately respond to customers’ unmet needs
 Expand access opportunities for DePuy Synthes products in a manner that is commensurate with company policy and sales direction
 Provide professional clinical support to customers (primarily physicians, nurses, and techs) or indirect sales channel force, through education and training
 Establish strong relationships with customers, obtain feedback, understand their needs and maintain adequate service levels by providing high level customer support and on- going communication
 Ask appropriate questions to identify, understand, and deal with daily customer objections; learn how to handle and channel objections internally
 Have awareness of the competition products, activities and commercial tactics.
 Demonstrate a basic understanding of marketing concepts for assigned products and collaborates with marketing to develop implementation plans for programs; supports implementation in the sales field
 Ensure the surgery volume goal for assigned accounts is met
Business Effectiveness
 Maximize use of consigned instruments and implants (efficiency and rotation) and support CLS team with information for implants and instruments replenishment according to surgical volume (actual and new procedures)
 Analyze data and prepare reports and presentation packages as needed
 Maximize customer case support capability through efficient planning and scheduling techniques, driving collaboration, maintaining consistent, open lines of communication with external and internal stakeholders. (i.e. Customer Logistic Services, Health Care Compliance, Integral Services, credit department & MD Non- Clinical Leads)
 Manage account documentation, compliance training requirements, expense reporting, and company system input
 Demonstrate a basic understanding and effectively uses appropriate computer applications, including Sales Force Automation, in a compliant manner
 Proactively utilize computer applications in advanced ways to maintain and to grow the business
 Participate in assigned projects, complete assignments, and meet deadlines
 Prepare and execute business presentations of assigned account(s)
 Serve as mentor to new hires, as needed
 Provide additional support as needed.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required or combination of years of experience with a technical degree may be considered.
 Surgical technician certificate is required (2 years of experience as a surgical technician and at least 1 year of orthopedic surgical technician)
 Previous experience within the Healthcare industry, in the Medical Devices Sector, is highly preferred.
 Able to work flexible hours is required
 A valid driver's license is required
 Bilingual (English & Spanish) is required
 Proficiency in MS Office Platforms (Word, Excel, and Power Point) is required
 Travel inside designated territory will be required (up to 25% to 50% depending on territory) and candidate must live in or be willing to relocate to the territory.
