Ethicon Endo Surgery, a member of Johnson & Johnson’s Family of Companies is recruiting for a Product Management (PM)Service Engineer, located in Cincinnati, OH supporting the Global Surgery group. 

 

The Ethicon business offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies—including sutures, surgical staplers, clip appliers, trocars and synthetic mesh devices—that are used in a wide variety of minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women’s health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity. The Ethicon business combines products and services of two market-leading legacy companies, both with long histories of medical innovation. The Service Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership around the development and implementation of service and repair processes for capital equipment; and to ensuring that cost, performance, and customer satisfaction goals are met

 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Identify service requirements and work with R&D and Manufacturing during development to insure delivery of a serviceable product that yields a cost-effective service operation.
  • Develop service training, service manuals, and other required documentation to support the service business.
  • Provide technical support to customers and worldwide service centers.
  • Monitor service performance, analyze results, recommend product improvements, and implement service process improvements. Implement programs to achieve customer satisfaction objectives.
  • Apply comprehensive & diverse knowledge of engineering principles and statistical techniques to improve processes.
  • Work with customers, sales, and marketing to understand voice of customer and our position relative to competitors.
  • Establish and maintain authorized service centers.
  • Know & follow EES policies & procedures related to work activities performed in area of responsibility
  • Complete training in area of responsibility within allowed time-period. Training is required for changes in existing policies & procedures, for new assignments & for implementation of new policies & procedures. Complete required periodic re-training in areas such as safety & environmental
  • Follow all company safety policies & other safety precautions within work area. Promote safety to all associates that enter work area
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned and not all responsibilities listed may be assigned.

 



Qualifications

EDUCATION AND JOB EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent and at least 2 years of industry experience excluding co-op and internship experience and demonstrated proficiency providing service support with evidence of continued self-development.
  • A Degree in Electrical or Systems Engineering is preferred.
  • Can coordinate technical and business issues with internal and external customers.
  • The Primary Engineer assists in determining objectives and planning schedules of specific tasks within a given project/activity.
  • Only occasional guidance is needed by a more experienced engineer on unusual or especially difficult problems.
  • The individual must have also demonstrated the ability to work effectively in a team environment, make effective management level presentations, write formal reports dealing with both technical and business issues and prepare project plans.

 

 

KEY SKILL / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Good communication and collaboration skills are required.
  • Strong customer focus is required
  • Knowledge of analytical problem-solving tools is required
  • Knowledge of Process Improvement methodologies, or Lean Manufacturing Principals is required.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment is required.
  • The ability to make effective management level presentations, write formal reports dealing with both technical and business issues, and prepare project plans is required.
  • Negotiating/Influencing skills are required.
  • Knowledge of Design for Serviceability throughout New Product Development process is preferred.
  • Experience with Process Development, and Validation of Manufacturing/Assembly Processes preferred.
  • Knowledge of Project Management Tools is preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis tools is a plus.
  • Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) & ISO 9000 is a plus.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Personal computer skills, Windows: word processing, project planning, presentation, e-mail, web browsers & spreadsheet software

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: This position is based in Cincinnati, OH and may require up to 20% travel domestically and internationally
