The qualified candidate must be able to communicate and coordinate with customers/stakeholders regarding schedule and impact of work being performed.  He/she will provide maintenance support to manufacturing operations for Over-The-Counter (OTC) business consisting of processing, packaging and general plant operations.  Under minimal supervision this position will perform all responsible tasks necessary to operate, trouble shoot, service, adjust, repair and maintain equipment supporting the site manufacturing and packaging processes.  Candidate must be able to perform a variety of tasks included but not limited to monitoring and adjustment of manufacturing equipment to improve production throughput, equipment efficiency, implementation of preventative and corrective actions, and spare parts management.  He/she will be expected to have a thorough understanding of manufacturing equipment and high-level knowledge of mechanical, electrical, PLC, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and equipment used in manufacturing and packaging.  Position requires knowledge of inter-relationship between mechanical, electrical, and automated PLC-based systems.

  • Ensures that all documentation associated with his/her activities is documented with Good Documentation Practices (includes but not limited to: CMMS, protocols, batch records, investigations, PMs, forms and logbooks).
  • Equipment Set-up, Start-up checks, Trouble-shooting, and repair.
  • Performs the final checks and the double checks for manufacturing equipment as indicated in the preventative maintenance procedure and standard operating procedure.
  • Perform a combination of manual tasks including but not limited to sorting, inspecting, assembling, and mechanical servicing.  Support maintenance team in ensuring spare parts inventory is correct and compliant.  Accurately complete paperwork and electronic transactions for all documentation requirements including but not limited to SAP transaction, and paper and electronic logbooks.
  • Assist with equipment installation, setup-up and start-up. Performs and document equipment repairs as per standard operating procedure directives.
  • Startup and shutdown equipment as per procedures to ensure proper operation.
  • Follow Environmental Health and Safety procedures during startup, shutdown, trouble shooting, and operation of equipment.
  • Adjust equipment to optimize performance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment to minimize downtime. Propose long term improvements to equipment as continuous improvement.
  • Able to order and receive material and perform the required identification and use (i.e. RFI system and basic SAP).
  • Operate forklift, manual and motorized pallet jacks.  Maintain proper inventory levels of clean tools including ancillary equipment, pallets and containers. Manage the removal of waste, collection of materials for recycle, and execute equipment cleaning and housekeeping operations in accordance to policies and procedures.

Equipment Cleaning & Housekeeping

  • Disassemble equipment to facilitate cleaning and ensure clean equipment/workspace at task completion.
  • Perform manual cleaning of maintenance equipment and room/suite.
  • Collect waste cleaning materials in appropriately designed and labeled containers.
  • Utilize control systems and appropriate instrumentation to clean major equipment (CIP/COP).

  • Maintain 5S status of facility maintenance areas.
  • Ensure clean equipment and workspace at task completion. Able to act as lead in 5S for assigned areas.
Systems Knowledge
  • Utilize tools within MS office and other systems to improve business effectiveness
  • Exposure to electronic batch records and/or other automated processes/systems (labs).
  • Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management (CMMS) system.
  • Working knowledge of an automated system.
Compliance-Safety; GMP, Facilities
  • Attend GMP training on the schedule designated for the role and as appropriate for the role.
  • Adhering to strict compliance with procedures according to the roles and responsibilities.

  • In a timely and prompt manner, identify, report and seek correction for deviations noted in the workplace.

  • Wears the appropriate PPE when working in manufacturing and other hazardous working environments and advocates standards of safety.
  • Maintains facility and work area in good working condition.
  • Works with team to ensure all aspects of business remain compliant.

  • A minimum of a Highschool Diploma is required.
  • An Associate’s Degree from a Technical School in Mechanical, Instrumentation or Electro-mechanical trade is preferred. Or
  • Minimum of 5 years or experience in a regulated and automated manufacturing environment is required.
  • Pharmaceutical/GMP manufacturing/Packaging experience is preferred.
  • Candidates must be able to meet the physical demand of that this position requires: continuous lifting and/or moving from 5 to 25lbs. weight material, and frequent lifting or moving average (25-50 lbs.) weight material.
  • Must have a proven ability to interact with other operators, management, and groups inside and outside of Manufacturing.
  • Candidates are required to have a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of a Production Automation Systems (i.e. Wonderware, MES, SAP) is preferred.  
  • Able to work extra hours, at night or on weekends and/or irregular shifts.  Able to respond to emergency calls.
  • This role will be located in Fort Washington, PA on a Monday through Friday work week. This position will be second or third shift position.
