DePuy Synthes Companies of Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Marketing Manager, Regional Marketing – Upper Extremities Trauma in West Chester, PA. This position will require up to 35% travel, including some weekends.

DePuy Synthes Trauma is the worldwide leader in the development of products to treat orthopaedic trauma and other bone deformities.  The company is headquartered in West Chester, PA and Solothurn, Switzerland and employs over 1,000 people worldwide.  The Manager will be responsible for the US downstream marketing of the Upper Extremity Trauma product portfolio.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

Commercial Results - Achieve US business plan objectives of sales, net income, gross profit, inventory and price on an annual basis. Manage expenses within budget. Increase company’s leadership position in the US Trauma market.  Develop and execute strategies to protect and grow company’s position in the US Upper Extremity and overall Trauma market.

 

New Product Launch Execution - Responsible for leading and executing impactful US product launches.  Specific responsibilities include the development and execution of regional price strategy, US promotional plan based on global marketing campaign strategy, product training plan (sales force & surgeons), sales forecasting, customer targeting, inventory allocation and roll-out plan, sales tools and communication, etc.

 

US Trauma Business Support - Serve as the subject matter expert for our products, competitive strategies and products, procedures, surgical techniques, and the innovation landscape.  Stay connected with market needs through frequent interaction with customers - travel with sales consultants, attend industry meetings, review medical journals, etc.  Partner closely with Sales Teams to gather input on customer needs and ensure strong alignment with product strategy.  Develop relationships with surgeon customers and key targets. Support sales efforts by participating in sales activities aimed at converting or retaining key customers. Ensure frequent and efficient communication with the sales team regarding company strategies, product launches and other key initiatives. Be responsive in requests from customers and sales consultants. Work collaboratively with other functional areas to ensure business issues are addressed.

 

Business Planning & Execution - Work closely with manager to develop and execute effective business plan focused on driving growth and profitability in the Upper Extremity segment and associated portfolio.  Deliver results through cross functional collaboration with key business partners including field sales organization, Franchise marketing, Professional Education team, Commercial Education team, and other key stakeholders.  Apply insights from deep understanding of all phases of the selling process to improve sales and marketing effectiveness and drive customer and sales behavior. Partner with Professional Education & Tradeshow groups to build promotional plans around key events and provide on-site support. Develop insights into US customers’ products and services needs to provide effective inputs for Franchise marketing portfolio planning process.  

 

Implementation of key US initiatives – Identify and communicate targeting opportunities through robust analysis of the business to support technology upgrades and competitive conversions. Lead and support key initiatives in the US region by collaborating across the business, with Franchise partners, Strategic Customer Group and others to implement cross-selling partnerships with other J&J companies and strategic alliances with external partners, upgrading customer to new technologies and obsolescence of older products.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required. An MBA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years total of progressive business experience in any of the following areas is required: Marketing, Sales, R&D, or a combination of experience in these functions.
  • 2+ years of experience in medical device or other healthcare regulated environment is highly desired. Experience managing medical device product lines, including leading product marketing and setting strategic direction for product portfolio is preferred.
  • Orthopedics experience is strongly preferred.
  • Must have ability to work in a hands-on, fast paced, customer focused environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing successful business plans, generating insights from analytics, and marketing and launching new products, services and/or programs to the healthcare community is required.
  • Ability to work effectively in an ambiguous environment and be comfortable making informed decisions with incomplete information is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner cross functionally in a matrixed organization, influencing without authority is required.

This position will require up to 35% travel, including some weekends.
