Job Description

Requisition ID: 7544180329

Janssen BioTherapeutics is seeking a highly motivated individual to identify novel cell type-specific antibody targets.
Knowledge on key cell types affecting outcomes of many diseases has been rapidly accumulating.  Yet, targeting these cell types is often hampered by the paucity of specific markers.  Establishing a systematic process to identify novel protein isoforms that are unique to a particular cell type and are suitable for targeting with antibodies would be of great benefit to drug discovery. The Postdoctoral Fellow will develop a systematic method of cell-type specific antibody and target identification to facilitate discovery of novel drug targets.
At Janssen, postdoctoral fellows are trained by expert scientists working at the cutting edge of drug discovery.  Janssen BioTherapeutics supports a wide range of therapeutic areas including Oncology, Neuroscience, Cardiovascular and Metabolism, Immunology, and Infectious Diseases.  The successful candidate will learn from and contribute to an industry-leading drug discovery program that has brought numerous quality therapeutics to patients and significant contributions to human health. They will partner throughout the Janssen R&D organization and participate in cross-functional team discussions, gaining insight into many aspects of biotherapeutic discovery and development.  The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to author papers on their research and present novel findings at scientific conferences.
Key Objective:
To develop a systematic method of cell-type specific antibody and target identification to facilitate discovery of novel drug targets

Suitable candidates will have a Ph.D. in Immunology, Oncology, Cell Biology, Neuroscience, or a related field. Research experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
  • Immunization or antibody identification
  • Broad knowledge in biochemistry and antibody therapeutics
Candidates must display an ability to independently design and execute research. In addition to a broad knowledge of immunology and cell biology, we are seeking an individual with deep intellectual curiosity, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
