This position will be responsible for:

 
Compliance -   
  • Oversee & review all tax compliance for all Puerto Rico legal entities. 
  • This includes managing the activities of the Compliance Manager and staff in PR.
  • Ensure all statutory requirements are timely and accurately filed. 
  • Partner with all Legal Entity finance support to provide data analysis as requested.
  • Partner with PWC for all audit requests & financial statement support.
 

Planning

  • Work in conjunction with the Sector Tax Planning teams to implement PR strategies for all sector companies located in PR, that are aligned with business operations.
  • Utilize leadership skills and PR tax expertise to successfully manage multiple tax projects, using internal resources outside advisors, and business stakeholders.
  • Monitor and anticipate changes in PR tax legislation, regulations, and interpretations; analyze their impact, advise tax leadership regarding the effect on company operations, recommend and implement responsive action plans and monitor impact of implemented plans.
  • Coordinate with sector tax planning groups, to evaluate incentives, domestic company transfer pricing, indirect tax and business development, on planning projects and other tax initiatives to achieve operational flexibility and administrative efficiency, while providing cash tax savings and successful effective tax rate.  Support Tax Counsel Group in acquisitions/divestitures and restructuring projects.
  • Lead the state tax audits processes to identify common issues and implement remediation plans to resolve.  Work with outside counsel with audits positions and appeals.
  • Lead the municipal tax planning work, grants and controversy, and coordinate with sector tax planning groups and other business partners.
 
Policy
  • In partnership with Government Affairs representative in PR and Corporate Tax, represent the company on tax matters in government, professional, and industry associations. 
  • Establish networks of key contacts in government and industry associations to provide tax leadership the insights into evolving laws and regulations allowing our company to evaluate and influence outcomes ensuring the companies in PR pays their fair share of tax.
  • Interact internally and externally with executive management involving negotiation of difficult matters to influence policy.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • A minimum of 7 years tax experience is required
  • MS In Taxation, MBA, CPA, CMA, JD preferred
  • Focus and Expertise in all PR Taxation, Federal US taxation, State US Taxation and Direct Tax US is preferred
  • Strong Leadership Skills with the ability to partner with, and educate, the business leaders regarding critical PR tax issues/policies is preferred
  • Ability to build relationships across the various disciplines through collaboration, teaming, consensus building, and interpersonal effectiveness is required
  •  Ability to work independently and strong communication skills are required
  • Proficient in SAP, BNA is preferred.
  • Must be fully Bilingual in English & Spanish.
  • This role will be based in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico and may require up to 10% domestic and international travel
