Janssen BioTherapeutics is seeking a highly motivated individual to investigate structural basis of protein therapeutic stability and related biophysical properties

Janssen BioTherapeutics is focused on monoclonal antibodies and other biologic modalities. The stability and other related biophysical properties have great impact on their successful development as therapeutics. We are seeking a self-motivated Postdoctoral Fellows to study the structural basis of biologic stability and related biophysical properties. This work will help the on-going drug discovery projects, and will also form the foundation for next generation of therapeutic modalities. The Postdoctoral Fellow will apply a multitude of approaches including structural studies and biophysical characterization. They will join a team of experienced scientists dedicated to the engineering of therapeutic molecules, development of new therapeutic modalities as well as methodologies. They will have exposure to all aspects of modern biologic drug discovery and development.

At Janssen, postdoctoral fellows are trained by expert scientists working at the cutting edge of drug discovery.  Janssen BioTherapeutics supports a wide range of therapeutic areas including Oncology, Neuroscience, Cardiovascular and Metabolism, Immunology, and Infectious Diseases.  The successful candidate will learn from and contribute to an industry-leading drug discovery program that has brought numerous quality therapeutics to patients and significant contributions to human health. They will partner throughout the Janssen R&D organization and participate in cross-functional team discussions, gaining insight into many aspects of biotherapeutic discovery and development.  The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to author papers on their research and present novel findings at scientific conferences.

Key Objective:

To study structural basis of biologic stability and new platform technology and to provide support in protein structure studies for ongoing drug discovery projects.

Suitable candidates will have a  Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics or structural biology with strong skills in X-ray crystallography and biophysical characterization. Research experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

  • SAXS or EM andmolecular modeling,
  • Protein expression and purification.
  • Candidates must display an ability to independently design and execute research. In addition to a broad knowledge of biochemistry and biophysics, we are seeking an individual with deep intellectual curiosity, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
