Our Insights and Experience Strategy (IXS) team is responsible for introducing differentiated, design-related methodologies into the organization that enable new ways of working, while also delivering innovation projects that make impact. IXS additionally develops new brand and communication strategies from an experiential foundation. Through Experience Design, we also design new business models and value exchange.
J&J Design is looking for a creative and accomplished individual for the role of Senior Manager, Insights and Experience Strategy. This position will focus on leading large brand strategy initiatives that refresh and redefine the heart of the J&J brand. The Senior Manager will be an integral part of JJ Design and work closely with Corporate Strategy and Communications to create, elevate and activate the J&J brand using purpose-based, design-led methodologies.
You must be comfortable with the following: ambiguity, leading teams through research, synthesis activities, conceptualizing future states, providing strategic direction for designing compelling solutions that answer business requirements and, most importantly, the needs of people: our employees, consumers, patients, customers, health care providers and their beneficiaries. You must also be highly effective as a presenter, storyteller and influencer.
You will embody care-centered design leadership while effectively working with cross-functional partners and manage diverse teams to ensure timely delivery of compelling design solutions.
The role is located in New York, NY and may require domestic and international travel, a minimum of 25%.
Lead the implementation of major innovation initiatives, including establishing and ensuring strong program governance and process management in close collaboration with J&J Design and its business partners in Corporate Strategy and Communications.
Collaborate with senior leaders within J&J and other internal and external stakeholders to support effective program planning and execution.
Use design thinking to create and activate new experiences for our employees, contingent labor, retirees, shareholders and suppliers that reinforce our Credo and activate our strategic north star pillars.
Coordinate and manage design resources across related initiatives to effectively drive to execution.
Ensure plans are implemented in accordance with timeline and financial expectations.
Provide high quality communication materials that support executive updates, enable cross functional dialogue, and lead to decisive action.
Support the dissemination of best practices and tools that enable creativity and innovation and lead cross-organizational initiatives that support an inclusive culture of innovation at JNJ, including by helping to generate and share new ideas
Serve as key expert in Brand Experience Design on large initiatives, while leading others.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a design related field is required. Masters desired.
- 8-10 years of experience in one or several of these areas: Digital Product Management/Ownership, Design/Management Consulting, Branding/Design Strategy, and/or Entrepreneurship.
- People management experience .
- Portfolio with case studies reflecting strong subject matter expertise – the strongest candidates will have a track record of work that delivers unique experiences grounded in a compelling brand strategy..
- Proven results managing multi-disciplinary design teams is required.
- Strong communication, facilitation and project leadership skills required to engage a variety of stakeholders along the design process.
- Proficiency in design-related software such as Adobe CSS, as well as Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in navigating large, matrixed organizations is highly desired.
