The Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) Division, which is part of Discovery Sciences at Janssen Pharmaceutical R & D, is seeking a highly motivated and talented Biotransformation Scientist to provide drug metabolism support for drug discovery and development programs at its Spring House site in PA. The position will have hands-on lab-based activities including crafting and conducting various drug metabolism experiments, interpretation of data, presenting data to team and writing reports. You should have extensive hands-on experiences using various biochemical (incubation with various liver subcellular fractions, recombinant enzymes, and hepatocytes) and analytical (LC-radioactivity detector-tandem mass spectrometry) techniques to support in vitro and in vivo drug metabolism studies, automated sample preparation, experience with determination of kinetic parameters of metabolite formation, and hands-on operation and troubleshooting of Thermo Scientific and Bruker LC-MS instruments. Prior experience in using high resolution accurate LC-MS in Omics or MALDI imaging application is a plus. You should have excellent communication skills and ability to translate into information at internal/external meetings and writing skills to prepare reports/manuscript for publication. You are expected to multitask, possess the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team and be highly flexible in a dynamic environment. You should have a working knowledge and broad experience in the optimization of ADMET properties of potential drug compounds in the discovery setting. This includes providing structure-metabolism/bioactivation-relationship to minimize metabolic clearance or reactivity to move project to development. The individual is expected to perform some research by collaborating with researchers internally or externally.
