DTC Wellbeing – Senior Manager:  In-Person Experience Leader
 
We are assembling a small start-up team to build and deploy this new business model.  Ideally, candidates will be located in the NYC / NJ area with frequent meetings in J&J headquarters in New Brunswick, NJ where a broader group of J&J support functions will aid in building out the solution.
 
We are currently recruiting to fill the role of Senior Manager:  In-Person Experience Leader
 
Role Description: 
You will manage the day-to-day experience of members, the training and oversight of instructors, management of on-site staff and sales.  You will serve as liaison to provide feedback to the core team about anecdotal and quantifiable feedback and results. You will continually assess and ensure that experience KPIs are being met. Continuously update & upgrade the instructor training programming and the “member” experience.
 
This role requires an attentive, hard-working individual who can work on both the experiential and technical components of the in-person wellbeing studio while keeping member engagement as a top priority.  You must be a people leader committed to the growth and development of a team and the continued success of our “members” and the brand.
 
 
Key Jobs to be Done:
  • Partner with the Business Unit Leader to provide a high-level member experience
  • Create standards, training programs, and assessment tools to guide the class/studio/member experience
  • Manage day to day operations of member experience via instructors, front desk, cleaning and tech support staff to assure impeccable execution of experience including cleanliness, safety, courtesy, show and efficiency
  • Hold studio culture as a priority. Demonstrate leadership to ensure all aspects of the class, studio, equipment and member experience always remain impeccable
  • Collaborate across disciplines to drive executional excellence in product/service development, technology enablement and data management
  • Focus on engaging all members, inclusive of actively selling class packages and retail products
  • Lead and participate in local marketing opportunities with the team
  • Maintain our brand and product knowledge
  • Provide proper studio set up for all members —new and existing
  • Responsible for studio-level receiving and supply inventory

Qualifications
Background required:
  • Strong leadership qualities with superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in creating exceptional training experiences and scaling this through Train the Trainer programs
  • Experience managing and influencing others
  • Adaptable, able to tolerate stress, comfort with ambiguity / start-up environment
  • Must have a flexible schedule to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and some promotional events
  • Must be able to work with the studio team, as well as the corporate staff 
  • Proficiency in using MS Office, Google Docs and Google Drive
 
Additional Qualifications:
  • BA / BS – preferred in Exercise Physiology, sports management or sport science
  • Trained in yoga, meditation or the like
  • Must have 2-3 years’ experience in the retail and/or fitness industry
  • Live in NYC / NJ / PA area
  • Preferred:  Previous start-up experience
