The Senior Manager R&D Electrical Engineering manages the electrical engineering research and development department. Coordinates research and/or development activities directed toward the development of new technologies and products that meet corporate revenue, profit growth, and expense objectives. Contributes to project and departmental budgets. Ensures that the group's activities are in compliance with current GMP/GLP, Quality system regulations, regulatory, safety, and corporate policy standards. Provides technical expertise within and external to the organization. Drives development of JJVS intellectual property. Champions new tools and processes to keep the technology level current within the staff.
The Senior Manager R&D Electrical Engineering is technically insightful and has a strong ability to integrate design, materials, and processes. Develops highly advanced techniques and concepts. Plans technological application to accomplish long range plans. Adheres to environmental policy, procedures, and supports department environmental objectives.
Provides leadership and centralized management for the planning, development and execution of approved projects to achieve key strategic business objectives. Manages multiple, often concurrent projects and consistently meets expectations. Makes key decisions regarding priorities among projects.
Leads the engineering team in the execution of the project plan to accomplish goals on time, and within the budgetary projections.
Manages and is responsible for all phases of project execution.
Leads engineering team comprised of internal and external resources. Performs periodic review of project resource allocation.
Anticipates and identifies areas of tactical and strategic risk and mitigates risks through early risk assessments and implementation of fallback / mitigation strategies.
Performs all aspects of workforce administration, including but not limited to, establishment of yearly goals and objectives, mid-year reviews, year-end reviews, salary adjustments, performance improvement plans, succession planning, and performance ranking.
Facilitates the clinical training of all the staff so they can understand the environment of their design and product.
Encourages team to create ROIs that augment our IP portfolio, and reviews all ROIs prior to submission.
Reviews all designs and provides feedback to ensure design meets intended purpose. Coaches team members on compliance to the Quality System, and enforces the stepwise phase gate process.
Where appropriate, may introduce design concepts or solutions and guides the team in overall execution of the design.
Ensures tools and technology reflect the latest state of the art in the discipline of EE.
Effectively communicates with all levels throughout the organization. Conveys information effectively through formal and informal presentations. Prepares and presents to senior management.
Builds relationships with customers and matrixed organizations. Actively interacts with KOLs to further an understanding of the clinical unmet needs.
Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects. Acts as an advisor to management. Sets a clear direction for improving project design / outcome within the framework of the division strategy.
Complies with all regulations and standards for quality, Environmental, Health, Safety, and Energy (EHS&E)
Global Policies, JJVS Engineering Standards, and other governance areas as applicable.
Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineer is required.
A minimum of 10 years industry experience is required.
A minimum of 5 years management experience with direct reports is required.
Working in highly regulated industry is required.
Strong knowledge of Design Controls is required.
Proven project management experience is preferred.
Demonstrated research experience is preferred.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills is required.
Demonstrated management skills is required.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment is required.
Strong problem solving skills is required.
Proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, Powerpoint, Excel is required.
