Janssen is seeking a Senior Scientist to join the Immunology Discovery Biology team in Spring House, PA to provide scientific leadership in the design and execution of strategy to discover novel agents to treat immune-mediated diseases. This individual should have extensive training in molecular cell biology, and a strong background in cytokine biology and in innate and adaptive immune mechanisms of inflammation.
The individual will be responsible for:
• The origination and defense of ideas for new and on-going projects.
• The design and execution of experiments that validate targets in cell-based assays.
• Development of cellular assays that enable the discovery and characterization of novel therapeutics.
• Accurate recording of data, timely maintenance of laboratory notebooks and interpretation and presentation of findings to discovery teams and management.
• Collaboration in a highly multidisciplinary/matrix environment for the progression of drug discovery projects.


Qualifications
• Ph.D. in Immunology, Molecular Biology or related fields, a minimum of 2 years post-doctoral experience, and a strong publication record in peer-reviewed immunology journals is required; 3-5 years industry experience is preferred.
• A strong background in cytokine biology and adaptive and innate immunity is required, together with experience in multiparameter flow cytometry.
• Experience investigating tissue inflammation is required including the ability to isolate and immunophenotype immune cells from tissues.
• Experience investigating skin inflammation is preferred including keratinocyte isolation and culture and the use of 3D-reconstructed skin models
• Historical experience with murine immune/inflammatory models is required.
• A track record of applying a variety of molecular cell biology approaches including the development of molecular constructs and use of transfection, knockdown and deletion to investigate molecular pathways is required.
• Working knowledge of bioinformatics and experience generating and employing omics datasets is preferred.
