Site Planning Lead

General Description / Job Scope

The Site Planning Lead will direct and manage activities at the Plant as it pertains to Production Planning ensuring the creation of a balanced and feasible production plan supporting customer service, manufacturing and financial objectives.   Responsibilities include reviewing and developing any corrective actions stemming from Performance Metrics. The Site Planning Leader will lead a team of Planners, Detailed Schedulers, MRP Planners, and Business Leads to create an executable production plan for the site.  The Site Planning Leader will be a member of critical projects within the organization, including acting as the accountable Supply Chain representative on the Lititz Site Leadership Team


Major Job Duties

  • Develop the strategic direction and objectives for the Site Planning department and monitor performance accordingly.
  • Manage planning requirements for the plant including business supply needs, new production pipeline, volume builds and other plant project work
  • Plan and prepare production schedules for manufacturing through subordinate planners and schedulers, develops and implements production planning policies, standards, guidelines, technology and procedures
  • Connect with Demand and Supply Planning to ensure seamless flow of information and fully integrated approach to delivering key metrics – Customer Unit Fill Rate, Raw Material and Finished Goods Inventory and SLOB, Capacity Loading, and Cost per Unit for the site
  • Partner with Material Supply Management to drive supplier performance including quality and on-time delivery
  • Member of critical projects in the organization, including acting as the accountable supply chain representative on the Site Leadership Team
  • Oversee Raw material requirements planning, detailed scheduling, and master production scheduling for all materials (raw materials, WIP, and finished goods) in scope at site, including the master data associated with these materials
  • Responsible for altering schedules to meet unforeseen conditions, improving profitability through process improvements and utilization of resources, and participation in new product launch meetings, new product forecasts, and volume build meetings as a business partner
  • Responsible for near and longer-term capacity planning. Owns the rough-cut capacity process and supports the S&OP process
  • Directs and leads monthly plant-based S&OP meetings
  • Proactively identifies near term and long-range capacity constrained or underutilized work-centers and partners with site leadership to optimize volume
  •  Assists with the business planning cycles
  • Manage production planning team setting clear performance standards and holds people accountable for results, delivering key metrics noted above along with meeting production requirements, safety targets, and non-conformance/quality improvement goals
  • Recommend and guide implementation of functional strategies
  • Build cross-functional and cross-departmental support, fostering overall group effectiveness, and drive innovation within functional area
  • Manager of people, develops, coaches and guides Planners, Schedulers, and Team Leads in the execution, strategies and realization of departmental and company goals
  • Responsible for maintaining employee development plans, performance reviews and succession plans for staff as well as recruiting and retaining talent for the LAP Plant Planning team
  • Work with other managers to continually develop organizational design improvements for the department

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required. A focused degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Logistics is preferred
  • An advanced degree is preferred
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, planning, engineering or related discipline
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience managing teams OR people management is required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, etc.) and PowerPoint applications is required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MRP concepts, ERP (SAP/APO/SNP) and Advanced Planning System knowledge is required
  • Experience managing capacity planning requirements including business supply needs, new production pipeline volume builds, and other plant project work is preferred
  • Exposure and/or experience in Manufacturing, including forecasting, distribution, supply chain, logistics, and procurement, OTC and/or consumer packaging or related field is a plus
  • Ability to influence Director & VP Levels within the organization and in a matrix environment
  • Ability to drive & apply continuous process improvement tools and improvements to large and complex projects is required
  • Demonstrates the ability to leverage knowledge of complex processes in a global environment to anticipate issues and propose effective resolutions required
  • Certifications/Licenses: APICS Certification is preferred
  • Other Requirements: This role is located in Lititz, PA with occasional domestic travel
