Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems Inc. (Strategic Customer Group) is recruiting for a National Policy & Advocacy Director, CVM, to be field based with frequent travel to Titusville, NJ and Washington, DC.

The National Policy & Advocacy Director, CVM is a SCG leader responsible for developing and implementing strategic business initiatives in response to the changing healthcare environment. With a focus on Advocacy, Policy & Access, the Director will be the single point of contact and lead all of Janssens’ cross functional business strategies that touch key advocacy organizations (professional and patient) in the Cardiovascular and Metabolic franchise. The director will accomplish this by cultivating, educating and mobilizing these partners in response to shaping policy that maintains and improves access to the quality of care for patients.

 

This role is highly consultative and requires partnering and interfacing with all internal partners i.e.;

SCG leadership, Brand Marketing, Communications, Government Affairs & Policy, Healthcare Quality, Scientific Affairs, Finance. The candidate should be able to demonstrate the ability to anticipate and act proactively, and effectively in reactive, uncertain situations.   The position does not have direct head count responsibility but does require the ability to manage without authority cross-functional teams while being able to work productively. This position is field-based covering national accounts

 
 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Cultivate, grow and lead relationships with targeted stakeholder decision-makers within advocacy organizations.
  • Development, communication and execution of strategic advocacy plans in reaction to legislative, regulatory and payer policies
  • Serve as the single point of contact between our National Advocacy Partner network and internal NA pharmaceutical functions (Brand Marketing, Communications, Scientific Affairs, Senior Leadership, SCG partners)
  • Lead and coordinate national policy & advocacy efforts with the local Health Policy & Advocacy Directors (HPADs)
  • Partner closely with Government Affairs & Policy office and provide the voice of Advocacy organizations to inform overall strategy
  • Create programs and platforms that positively impact access to Janssen’s products (existing/ development) aligned to the strategic imperatives of the CVM franchise
  • Effectively communicate and educate the internal organization and national advocacy organizations on key policy trends
  • Possess expertise in Government programs impacting CVM patients including, Medicare/Medicaid policy and Part D benefit design
  • Manage sponsorship requests (corporate sponsorships, corporate memberships, non-CME) from key customer groups including physician societies and patient foundations. 
  • Effectively participate and lead Janssens advocacy interactions at all relevant conventions
  • Lead and Participate in Strategic Business Planning with internal partners.
  • In person presence on the Titusville campus for internal meetings as required
 


Qualifications
  • A minimum of a bachelors degree is required
  • At least ten (10) years’ experience in the Healthcare Industry is required
  • At least five (5) years' related experience with third party payers, professional societies, marketing, sales, or related Healthcare Policy
  • Strong background and understanding of commercial and public payor policy is required
  • Understanding of complexities associated with the changing health care environment (i.e., ACA, Quality, care pathways and clinical guidelines) is  required
  • Ability to demonstrate effective communication of technical information is required.
  • Demonstration of strong skills in strategic planning/development and execution is required.
  • Demonstration of ability to manage complexity and collaboration with numerous cross-functional teams is required.
  • Experience in working with complex markets is preferred
  • Knowledge of national guidelines and understanding of how they impact treatment is required.
  • Demonstration of strong skills in strategic planning/development and execution is required.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) is required
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment required
  • Ability to demonstrate a customer centric approach and focus required
  • Management experience is required. 
  • The ideal candidate will be in driving distance and regularly commute to New Jersey and Washington, DC.
  • Significant domestic travel including weeknights and weekends is required (up to 70%)
