Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the role of Communications Intern is to provide for the administration, support, development and delivery of several priority internal and external communications initiatives on behalf of the Communications & Government Affairs department at Johnson & Johnson Inc. The intern placement is expected to be 8 months, beginning in May. This is an excellent opportunity for a student who has completed a post-secondary degree and who has completed, or is about to complete, a post-graduate program in Corporate Communications or Public Relations.
Major Responsibilities
A) Internal Communications
  • Build relationships with colleagues across J&J departments to develop news and event-based content
  • Develop and administer content for internal audiences (ie. SharePoint portal, Screens, presentations, posters, etc)
  • Support internal event development and execution in partnership with business colleagues and communications department; may include content creation, AV coordination, signage development, and other responsibilities as required
B) External Communications
  • Support the coordination of key external communication projects and events as needed; may include research, writing, photography, content creation, stakeholder contact, vendor logistics, project management, and other responsibilities as required

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree and completion of a post-graduate program in Corporate Communications or Public Relations
  • Superior oral and written communication skills in English (please provide persuasive writing examples with application, a written evaluation may also be requested)
  • Superior project management skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects, deliverables and deadlines across a spectrum of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to develop working relationships with key colleagues from across all departments and from a wide variety of levels (from Intern level colleagues to Senior Manager and Director level colleagues)
  • Ability to balance macro-level thinking (ideation, development) with micro-level attention to detail throughout execution (proofreading, formatting)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing social media channels
  • High level of computer software proficiency: MS Office 365, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop are required and ability to learn MS SharePoint
