Position Overview:
  • Provides testing and technical support in the Microbiology QC Laboratory. 
  • These functions may include:  Collection, processing, and testing samples of components, water, bulk and finished products, in-process materials, scale-up, validation, cleaning validations, international components and products, research and development (R&D) for McNeil and McNeil affiliates to guarantee that they conform with specifications and standard operating procedures (SOPs). 
  • Fully proficient in one or more tasks in the laboratory. 
  • May review and/or assists in writing SOP’s and laboratory investigations. 
  • May assist in providing technical support and trouble-shooting for microbiological issues internally and externally. 
  • Complies with cGMPs and safety training and regulations. 
  • Maintains bacterial and fungi stock cultures and identifies microorganisms utilizing advanced microscopy and other identification methods.
  • Tests manufacturing equipment for certification and cleaning validation.
  • Tests method development for products, components and in-process materials per USP, EP and JP.
  • Contributes to specific projects such as launching of new products and non-conformance (NCR) investigations associated with releases and/or process validations.
  • Performs off-shift testing support for operations as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Maintains an environment of respect and teamwork with all coworkers.

  • Bachelor degree in Science is required.  Degree in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Natural Sciences, Medical Technology, or related discipline is preferred.
  • 1 year of QC/R&D Microbiology Laboratory experience in a highly regulated environment is required.
  • Possess an understanding and application of cGMPs required.
  • Microbial limits testing, preparatory testing, and experience in identification of microorganisms required.
  • Technical-writing skills is preferred.
