We are looking for a Consumer Solutions Lead to join our team in New York City, NY.
The short version:
This position intersects business and design; you will be the bridge and the strategic liaison between the business partners and the creative team.
Experience necessary in understanding the consumer packaged goods industry, specifically product-, package-, and graphic design. Understanding of the CPG business is desired.
Champion of user-centered design approaches and solutions from initial strategy through to implementation.
What is the position?
The Solutions Lead is a critical thinker and planner, and contributes heavily to strategy and product development work streams from the very start of the project through launch.
Helps plan and develop scopes of work while supporting and growing productive business partner relationships.
Supports J&J Design’s Consumer Solutions team in execution of diverse brand experience, innovation and product development programs.
What will you do?
Manage multiple projects with crucial deadlines.
Drive and enhance innovation and deliver differentiated, holistic solutions that improve the consumer experience across need states, brands and franchises.
Assist in coordinating user research and the identification and synthesis of user needs into design opportunities and frameworks.
Provide design guidance in collaboration with our graphic and industrial design teams to support CPG and structure design development.
Contribute to the improvement of design processes, including marketing and R&D upstream activities, project planning and generate design briefs.
A degree within Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Design Strategy, Business Administration or Product Design is preferred.
A minimum of 6 years’ experience in strategy, design, content development and/or program management.
An active and enthusiastic interest in designing consumer products and crafting resolutions that positively affect brand and product experience.
An action-oriented mindset that can shepherd design from vision through execution.
Experience working with highly cross-functional teams and a general understanding of marketing and business.
Ability to communicate complex and critical ideas simply, with tight focus and clarity.
An inspired attention to detail and exceptional follow-up and follow-through.
Ability to support the development of visual/verbal narratives using a combination of tools, including Microsoft Office software and Adobe Creative Suite, for strategic presentations, scopes of work and team inspiration.
Ability to distill and simplify complex information.
Previous design background is preferred
Previous account management experience is preferred.
Experience within brand design and print production is preferred.
Industry experience within consumer product goods is preferred.
Prior experience or knowledge of Oral Care/Wound Care or Beauty categories is preferred.
Understanding of digital user experience is preferred.
This position is based in New York, New York and may require up to 25% domestic travel.
