The preferred location for this position is Cincinnati, OH with consideration given to Somerville, NJ. Overnight travel may be required up to 30%, including overseas travel.

The Senior Pricing Manager is responsible for:

  1. Developing global pricing strategy, based on the principles of value based pricing, for both new products throughout the development cycle and established portfolios of products across Ethicon
  2. Implementing the appropriate metrics to monitor pricing decisions, with minimal direct supervision
  3. Reducing business risk as the result of price transparency via defendable global price structures
  4. Improving and/or maintaining the health of the Ethicon portfolio both in GP $s and GP %
Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Develops a comprehensive and global pricing strategy, based on the principle of value based pricing and pricing consistency across the globe, for both new products and existing portfolios of products
  • Partners with GHEMA and GBI to provide strategic input to front end marketing teams in terms of willingness to pay for new technologies.
  • Reduces business risk resulting from price transparency by instituting defendable price strategies and maintains/improves the overall GP health of the business
  • Implementing the appropriate metrics to monitor pricing decisions, with minimal direct supervision

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required. A Marketing, Economics, or Finance emphasis is strongly preferred.
  • A Master’s Degree in relevant field or MBA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant business experience is required.
  • Experience in Medical Device and/or healthcare is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Pricing Strategy and/or Marketing is required. 
  • Experience in pricing consultancy is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills to understand market dynamics identify business needs, and to summarize large amounts of data into simple and direct messages is required.  
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize issues and synthesize data to extract insights, develop strategies, and drive decision‐making is strongly preferred. 
  • Global experience preferred (a proven track record of partnering with regional and cross functional stakeholders).
  • Has worked successfully in a matrix organization (collaboration and influencing without direct authority) is preferred.
  • Experience incorporating clinical and non‐clinical customer needs into strategy is preferred. 
  • Proficient in and comfortable presenting to senior management is strongly preferred. 
  • Strong influence management skills to positively influence others with respect to pricing strategies and decisions, while defending a position and reaching consensus is strongly preferred.  
  • Excellent listening, verbal, written, and presentation skills are required.  
  • Proficiency in computer software, i.e., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, is required.   Superior proficiency in Microsoft Excel is strongly preferred.
