The Scientist, Chemistry within our CVM Discovery Chemistry group will support drug discovery of novel therapeutics for cardiovascular, fatty liver and/or diabetic kidney diseases.  The successful candidate will be involved in the design and synthesis of compounds to interrogate biological targets and to enable their modulation.  The position will be lab-based and will involve the execution of complex synthetic operations as well as analysis and purification.  The candidate will, with other chemists and biologists on the team, help drive a therapeutic project toward a drug candidate suitable for development recommendation.  The candidate will work collaboratively in a matrix environment, present ideas, both verbally and in writing to diverse audiences including scientific colleagues and senior leadership.

  • Ph.D. in synthetic Organic Chemistry
  • Experience in the synthesis of complex organic molecules and/or the design, synthesis and use of new chemical reagents or reactions is required
  • Post-doctoral experience in a related field is preferred
  • Experience with all generally utilized spectroscopic methods and purification technologies is required
  • Working knowledge of standard chemical database tools such as Scifinder, Beilstein etc.  is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects as evidenced by publications in peer reviewed journals is required
