Description
 
J&J Design is looking for a creative and accomplished digital experience leader for the role of Principal Designer on our Digital Experience Design team.  You will be responsible for defining, designing and delivering holistic, care-centered digital experiences.  Additionally, you must be as comfortable conceptualizing future states as you are providing direction for engaging solutions from concept to delivery.  You likewise love collaborating with various design disciplines,
 
You will design elegant solutions that answer business needs with engagements touching on the emotional desires of our customers adn patients.
 
The role is located in New York City and may require domestic travel up to 20%.
 
 
 
Your contribution
 
  • First and foremost, you will create compelling designs, and lead teams to create user-centered experiences that integrates user feedback, business priorities and metrics
  • You will direct resources across the digital team for the successful and timely delivery of designs and assets
  • Scope, plan, prioritize, coordinate, and conduct user requirements analysis, task analysis, conceptual modeling, information architecture design, interaction design to shape concepts, and see them through to implementation
  • You will further have oversight of user interfaces and information architecture specificaitons.
  • Responsible for observational studies, customer interviews, usability testing and other forms of empathy-building techniques and tools.
 
 
 
  • Pilot complex initiatives using personas, storyboards, scenarios, flowcharts, prototypes and specifications to illustrate the overall experience and context of user ecosytems.
  • Influence decisions and provide clear feedback.  You will also track and troubleshoot issues, assist in estimating resource needs and schedules, all with a pragmatic and positive attitude when timelines shift or change
  • Effectively communicate ideas and detailed design, and successfully convey design rationale both verbally and visually to senior management and decision makers
  • Collaborate with project management, business and brand strategists, hardware and software developers, various J&J and external partners to create cohesive brand experiences across touchpoints within the parameters set forth
  • You will partner in the ongoing development of J&J’s design standards plus the development of your colleagues through mentoring, by discovering new tools and trends to elevate your current craft and through participation in essential seminars and workshops to grow your knowledge.
 
 
 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Information Science or a related field of study.
  • 6+ years of UX design experience required.
  • Subject matter expertise of the capabilities and limitations of digital technologies, and a thoughtful understanding of the technical implications of your design recommendations.
  • A compelling portfolio of work.
  • Strong project management skills.  Must be able to function as a project leader as well as an individual contributor.
  • Superior communication and organizational skills.
  • A demonstrated passion for creating products that make lives simpler and resonate emotionally with people.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Adobe CS, Sketch and InVision
