DePuy Synthes is recruiting for Operating Systems Leaders – Secondary Operations (Multiple Openings) (2nd & 3rd shift), located in Horseheads, NY.

Provides technical support for safety and people, quality and compliance, reliability and cost.
Operating System (OS) Leaders are responsible for keeping the business running by:
Communicating, collaborating, and problem solving across cells and departments 
Supporting department and area goals
Deliver adequate training for the workforce
Delivering change (e.g. product launch, process, work/machine balance, continuous improvement, etc.)
Fills in for other OS Leaders or Team positions as needed


  • Administers and leads business standards of the Johnson and Johnson Operating System
  • Operating System Leader is the first responder for safety, quality, delivery and reliability issues to take corrective action
  • Assists team members in the completion of jobs to keep order to TAKT
  • Calls for support/assistance per the escalation process
  • Participates in investigations, develops plans and executes tasks to solve process problems
  • Understands existing processes, tooling setup and machine programs to support tasks associated with process validation (Installation Qualification, Operation Qualification, Performance Qualification, Computer Software validation and Test Method Validation) and engineering studies.
  • Has working knowledge of all gaging and tooling required to produce product in specification
  • Assists in developing fixtures and tools and expresses and implements ideas to gain performance 
  • Ability to create and maintain standard work 
  • Participates in designed experiments and capability studies 
  • Collects process documentation, prepares and delivers training on processes, materials, and equipment
  • Assists in the development of manufacturing and inspection including the qualified operator program
  • Assures adherence to all company safety policies and procedures and other safety precautions
  • Acts as a role model for the team members 
  • Performs other related duties including filling in for operators, as needed
  • Fixture Maintenance (Alignments, Clamp changes, replacements for wear items)
  • All frontline trouble shooting (Initial issue assessments, determine level of support needed, resolve smaller issues, etc.)
  • Assists in Re-vertical EDMs, reset pallet changer, Resolve Machine/Indexer Crashes (rest indexer, fixtures, offsets, first piece, etc.), alignment of lathes
  • Operator Asset Care- Autonomous Maintenance
  • Run machines as needed
  • Cell Organization and 5S improvements (Cell boards, workplace org, small safety improvements as e.g. hinges/latches protective covers, gage stand assembly, etc.)

Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent. Associates preferred
Demonstrates leadership qualities including confidence, transparency, integrity, innovation, passion, patience and tenacity
A minimum of 4 years of experience in manufacturing and/or engineering is required
Experience with CNC processes or equivalent equipment is required
Previous experience working in a regulated industry, such as Medical Device is preferred
Lean Six Sigma experience preferred
Demonstrates working knowledge of machine and electrical safety standards is preferred
Demonstrates problem solving skills is required
Demonstrates strong written, verbal and presentation skills are required
Demonstrates strong computer skills, such as the use of Microsoft Office products is required  
Demonstrates strong organizing skills and is results oriented is required
Demonstrates positive change management and interpersonal skills is required
Must be willing to support global projects including some travel 10% is required
Must be able to work 2nd Shift (2pm – 10pm) and 3rd Shift (10pm – 6am) and willing to support all production shifts based on team needs is required
Follows all laws and policies as they apply to one's job and maintains the highest levels of professionalism, ethics and compliance
Supports and operates in a proactive safety environment
Works in conditions that may be hot, cold, wet and/or noisy along with exposure to fumes, oil, coolants and other manufacturing related chemicals.
