Johnson & Johnson's Office of the Chief Medical Officer is recruiting for a Senior Director, Strategic Projects located in New Brunswick, NJ, Titusville, NJ or Springhouse, PA.

 

The Senior Director, Strategic Projects (SDSP) will assist in strategy development for and lead groundbreaking cross-sector, cross-functional initiatives that are integral to the strategic objectives of the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) and J&J more broadly. Working under the direction of the Vice President, Strategic Projects, the individual will be responsible for working with others in the organization to develop project vision and scope and see through to completion. The SDSP will focus on accelerating our ability to incorporate the use of real world data into product development strategies to enable regulatory decision-making and a future learning healthcare system.

 

The SDSP will develop strategic plans, facilitate planning and review meetings, build communication materials, design and execute stakeholder engagement plans to drive alignment within and across sectors, developing pragmatic, executable project plans and being responsible for the management of these, including accountability for successful project delivery and demonstrated business impact. The Sr. Director should understand the content of project discussions to credibly add to these discussions. They will lead cross functional / cross sector teams without direct authority. The SDSP will work independently to lead multiple projects at a time.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

 

Strategy Development (20%) : Lead development of multifunctional strategies or contribute to the shaping of project strategies and vision. Articulate creative ideas for advancing the goals and succinctly document these and ensure stakeholder and OCMO alignment of strategy and vision.

 

Project Management / Strategy and Project Execution Leadership (50%): Partners with key stakeholders and lead effective execution of projects. Prepares realistic project plans, leads and monitors project progress, proactively identify risks and risk mitigation strategies and prepare and deliver progress reports to stakeholders and management. With support from the VP of Strategic Projects, SP will diplomatically address conflicts in project plan alignment and elevate for resolution as needed.

 

Meeting Facilitation (15%): The SDSP will plan and run effective meetings and workshops to achieve project goals. This includes identifying key sponsors and stakeholders, soliciting input as appropriate, setting clear agendas, ensuring transparency of decisions and actions/communications to be all involved stakeholders.

 

Stakeholder Engagement Planning and Communications Support (15%): The SDSP will be adept at identifying and engaging key stakeholders to ensure alignment, understand possible issues which might affect project progress or identify possible sources of conflict and derailment which might lead to a “no go” for project idea. The SDSP will assist with communications planning for projects and be able to lead content development (from a technical point of view) to enable communications personnel to appropriately support communications needs for projects assigned.


Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (eg. Bachelor’s degree with MBA or other type of Master’s degree, PhD, or MD is desired).
  • Experience with R&D in either clinical development, data sciences, epidemiology and a minimum of 9-12 years of experience rug / medical / consumer product development, with a clear track record of success.
  • Proven leadership and management of large, complex projects.
  • Able to handle complex tasks independently yet knows when to seek guidance.
  • Strong analytical skills with a solution-oriented mindset required.
  • Tract record of successfully handling multiple priorities and working independently.
  • Strong leadership capability and ability to Connect, Shape, Lead & Deliver in a credo-based, ethical manner is required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Position requires domestic and international travel as needed.
