The Director of Biosurgery R&D, Life Cycle Management (LCM) is responsible for leading the team that maintains the $1.3B+ portfolio of product to best serve the needs of the customers and business while addressing changing compliance needs in the global marketplace. He/she is the primary R&D representative on all LCM governance councils for the Biosurgery platform with Global Strategic Marketing, Supply Chain, Quality and Regulatory on how to drive value on the existing portfolio and ensure compliance. He/she is accountable for developing value creation opportunities from new claims/new applications of existing products; developing the business case and prioritizing within the platform. Responsibilities include:
  • Lead governance of R&D LCM projects including CAPAs
  • Lead R&D activities for Surgical and Biologic product value streams
  • Partner closely with Supply Chain on network strategy and execution for technical transfers
  • Lead integration of R&D components for acquired businesses
  • Develop new capabilities in claims strategy, claims development and execution as the cross functional leader. Manage these projects as part of an integrated pipeline partnering with other leaders in R&D and GSM
  • Identify unmet needs to be solved through line extensions of the Bio surgical product families, or indication expansion opportunities to grow existing business. Work with GSM and GBI to develop business case.
  • Competitive analysis: Understand global competitors, predict future portfolio threats and develop strategic defense tactics
  • Develop team skills in complex collaborations across R&D and Supply Chain

  • BA/BS in technical discipline required
  • 15+ years of experience in relevant industry (Medical device or consumer industry) is required
  • Design control experience is required
  • Strong project management skills are required
  • Strong change leadership skills are required
  • Solid collaboration skills, in complex environments are required
  • Strong cross functional people leadership skills are required
  • Strong problem solving, and analytical skills are required
