Johnson & Johnson Surgical Vision (JJSV) is recruiting for a Senior QA Statistician located in Santa Ana, CA. JJSV designs, manufactures, and distributes products for the surgical treatment of anterior segment ophthalmic disorders, most notably cataract removal. As a Senior QA Statistician, you will be a core team member in the Advanced Analytics department supporting Quality Assurance (QA). In this role you will consult with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement statistical solutions to business problems. You should have a broad knowledge of statistical techniques and the ability to creativity to customize solutions as needed.

The Senior QA Statistician will provide statistical services including design, analysis, and interpretation of data evidence for the quality organization. You will exercise judgement in the selection of statistical methods to ensure results are actionable, accurate, and reproducible. You will contribute statistical expertise including predictive modeling, text mining, process capability analysis, test method validation, reliability modeling, development of sampling plans, and design of experiments. You will work cross-functionally to understand source data and resolve data integrity issues as needed. You will produce clear, concise, well-organized, and error-free computer programs and statistical reporting content.

To be successful in this role you should be a highly collaborative, curious team-player and effective communicator. You should have a strong statistical background and be effective in the use of relevant computational tools for data exploration, preparation, and analysis. You should develop & maintain an understanding of the pertinent regulatory requirements as well as keep up to date on new developments in the analytics space. You should work to continuously improve our statistical practices to meet changing needs of business.

  • A Master’s Degree or PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field with sufficient concentration in statistics is required.
  • Excellent knowledge of statistical techniques is required (e.g. multivariate data analysis, generalized linear mixed models, sample size simulations, predictive modeling, etc...).
  • Proficiency in at least one statistical programming language is required.
  • Proficiency in SAS programming is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in a statistician role is required. 
  • A minimum of 1+ years in a medical device environment is preferred.
