Johnson & Johnson Vision Surgical Vision (JJVS), a member of Johnson & Johnson's family of companies, is seeking an Engineer in the Insertion Systems R&D team in Santa Ana, CA. JJSV designs, manufactures, and distributes products for the surgical treatment of anterior segment ophthalmic disorders, most notably cataract removal.

As a member of the Insertion Systems R&D team, you will:
•Design products and processes.
•Implement design concepts and ideas into component and assembly drawings.
•Study design input requirements and translate them into specifications, engineering drawings, tooling solutions, and prototyping protocols.
•Develop test approach and methods at the component level, write and perform test protocols and writes reports.
•Perform hands-on and simulated testing for intraocular lens inserter system designs and for the development of associated test methods.
•Inspect and handle testing of prototypes, tools, and fixtures after fabrication to ensure that they meet specifications.
•Confer with the engineering team and prototyping personnel to resolve design problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, process capability requirements and cost.
•Identify issues, communicate status to peers and manager and participate in technical reviews.
•Apply advanced algebraic and geometric formulas to develop product configurations.
•Participate in engineering and scientific evaluation of new products, technology concepts, and product and process development.
•Write, review and edit engineering documentation related to assigned projects, such as technical reports, work instructions, test methods and process development documentation.
•Follow Johnson & Johnson Vision quality policy and procedures.
•Adhere to environmental policy, procedures, and supports department environmental objectives.
•Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related engineering discipline is required
•0-2 years of experience or training/internships in an engineering environment or equivalent combination of education and experience required
•CAD design experience is required
•Experience with SolidWorks is preferred
•Experience with plastic injection molding is preferred
•Experience with designing medical devices and their processes is preferred
•Knowledge of statistical analysis methods and DOE techniques is preferred
•Experience with process engineering preferred
•Ability to Travel 20% (international and domestic) is required
