Senior Associate Scientist (Senior Technician) Vaccine Generation
The Vaccine Generation group is a part of the Viral Vaccine department of Janssen Vaccines & Prevention (JVP) and focuses on the research and development of vaccines against viral infectious diseases. The group is responsible for the design, generation, production and characterization of recombinant viral vectors, for applied research in the vaccine field. Interaction with R&D groups in the organization is an important aspect of our work. You will join a stimulating group of researchers in a very collaborative environment. We are looking for a Senior Associate Scientist (Senior Technician) to strengthen our team in developing innovative vaccine candidates aimed to prevent and treat life-threatening diseases.
As an experienced Senior Associate Scientist (Senior Technician), you will be working under the supervision of a (senior) Scientist to support programs by generating, characterizing our (adeno) viral vectored vaccines and by improving our assays and procedures. Work within our team is dynamic and requires a flexible attitude. You will work with great autonomy independently analyzing and interpreting data, proposing next steps and report/present to (senior) colleagues. You should also be able to stay up to date with the newest techniques and introduce these in the team. We work in a matrix organizational structure and cooperation and communication is important to all levels within the department. This job requires you to be an expert in techniques like (q)PCR, standard cloning, western blot and cell culture. An interest in keeping up to date with relevant scientific literature is a plus.
Cloning of viral vectored vaccines using molecular techniques
Generation and characterization of viral vectors
Plan, design, conduct and trouble shoot complex experiments and analyze and interpret the results
Present results to team members and senior colleagues
Education: you have finished an HLO or master education with significant molecular, (bio)chemical and virology training with more than 10 years of working experience in a relevant position. Furthermore, demonstrable experience in molecular biology showing a good understanding of the matter is required.
(q)PCR, standard cloning techniques, cell culture, western blotting
Experience working in ML-2 laboratory with viral vectors.
Experience with adenoviral vectors is a plus.
Organized and highly accurate
Experiment design and data analysis skills
Written and oral communication skills in English
