Position Summary

The Senior Manager, MD SC Strategic Source will be responsible for 5 – 100+ global suppliers in support of approximately $25MM to $50MM in spend for Johnson & Johnson Companies.  This spend is medium to high complexity in nature and requires a collaboration with key stakeholders within the business to execute.  This individual will identify, develop and direct the implementation of Procurement goals and strategy.  He/she will plan and direct the organization’s activities and deliver against targets for financial performance, quality, and service and compliance adherence.  He/she will be responsible for leading a Procurement organization of 0 – 5 resources. 

 

He/she will provide Global and Regional Leadership for developing end-to-end category strategy, maintaining key relationships within the business and managing cross segment supplier relationships. The position must shape, connect and lead resources to deliver on key projects.

 

The Senior Manager, MD SC Strategic Source scope of responsibilities include:

  • Develop and drive the Procurement vision for, with and through the stakeholder community
  • Scout and identify capable suppliers and develop the vision, strategy and implementation plan that will effectively meet the long-range requirements of the business partners and deliver the maximum value for J&J (raw mat’ls and EM support in Japan for region and global)
  • Execute supply base assessment and supplier segmentation; Analyze global supplier footprint
  • Perform analysis such as comparative analysis, rationalization analysis, sourcing decisions and cost optimization identification analysis; Perform market intelligence analysis for current and emerging market movement trends
  •  Lead strategic sourcing process; Understand long range requirements of business partners and engage in strategic planning and partnering to ensure alignment; Develop and execute sourcing strategy
  • Develop and lead price and cost initiatives; Prepare and execute RFQs for medium to high complexity sourcing decisions; Conduct negotiations with suppliers
  • Interface directly with CEO’s and other supplier leadership to assure alignment of J&J’s objectives are met, including quality, reliability, innovation and cost; Conduct additional negotiations, if required
  • Deliver on financial, service, reliability, quality, innovation, and growth commitments
  • Conduct Top-to-Top meetings with suppliers that include holistic supplier performance management and review
  • Identify, develop and direct the implementation of Procurements goals and category strategies, based on deep subject matter expertise and an informal understanding of industry/market dynamics
  • Escalate issues that may impact the Global Procurement organization
  • Build and maintain relationships throughout J&J that results in dynamic interactive dialogue on a broad range of perspectives and information critical to the development of optimal approaches and solutions

    Category Strategy: Develops comprehensive, medium-high complexity category strategies for current & future business needs (including scouting and assessing); Conducts complex analysis and proactively offers insights based off analysis; Supports execution of strategy; Responsible for medium-high complexity category execution

    Supplier Management: Leads cross-segment/enterprise SRM.  Provides inputs into all other SRM processes

    Sourcing: Sets strategy and approach; serves as SRM for key supplier relationships; Responsible for overall execution

    Contracting: Provides broad contracting guidelines and serves as a point of escalation for issues; Proactively and independently manages all contracting activities including medium-high complexity contracts

    RtP: Resolves RtP issues; RtP approver; Supports RtP policy deployment

    Procurement Strategy & Enablement: Provides management; Provides insights and makes recommendations



    Qualifications
    Required Qualifications

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Uncompromised requirements for the role):

    (Include any required computer skills, certifications, licenses, languages, etc.)

             Broad-based understanding of business operations and practices and core Procurement areas of focus (Spend Management, Category Management, Sourcing and Supplier Management experience required)

             Strong leadership, communication, influencing and collaboration skills are required

             Able to prioritize requests, and propose effective cost/customer service alternatives when necessary 

             Ability to show judgment in developing new approaches and resolving issues

             Ability to show strategic thinking

             Strong project management skills

             Strong business acumen

             Negotiation skills

             General finance acumen

             Strong verbal and written communication skill with ability to confidently present complex information

    Preferred Qualifications

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

            People management experience if applicable and success leading cross-functional teams

            Education – CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, PMP, or other certification or relevant experience preferred

         Strong level of proficiency with core Procurement skills (e.g., Supply market analysis, Category Management, Procurement Excellence, etc.) and Scouting of new suppliers/capabilities

         Ability to drive supplier enabled innovation and facilitate introduction of new capabilities (3D printing, digital surgery)

            Strong level of credibility with internal customers, and with the supplier community

         Strong influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of stakeholders (e.g., businesses, Procurement LT, Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain); has "presence"

           Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment, while ensuring the organization is able to effectively and efficiently move through transitions
