The Janssen Alpine Cluster (Austria and Switzerland) is responsible for sales and marketing in these countries and delivers close to $500 million in sales. The company is one of the fastest growing pharmaceutical companies in these markets.

The Head of Key Account Management (m/f) will be leading the functions that are accountable for making our innovative portfolio of hospital products accessible to the patients suffering from serious diseases. You will also be responsible to deliver and sustain efficient pricing as well as to develop trust relationships with our customers. Our goal is to contribute in sustaining and growing Janssen's hospital business to achieve long-term success.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Develop strategies to improve access to innovative hospital medicines and patient outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively across the organization and with Austrian trade associations and other partners on health policy priorities.
  • Nurture, grow and lead relationships with relevant partners at hospital level.
  • Design, build and deliver a strategic account plan.
  • Leading and developing our hospital account team (2 direct reports).
  • Set up commercial policies together with internal partners.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing strategic business initiatives in response to the changing healthcare environment (e.g. Innovation Boards, Hospital HTA etc.).
  • Effectively communicate and educate the internal organization on policy trends, opportunities and emerging issues that may impact the company.
  • Serve as the link of communication between customers and Janssen. 


Educational Background:

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required.


Very good German and English language skills are required.


You have at least 6 - 8 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including at least 3 years experience with hospital payers. You have a proven track record in leading and developing high performing teams.

Specific Knowledge:

You provide excellent managerial and implementation skills and networking capabilities. Also important is a strong background and knowledge of hospital payor policies as well as of the legal and organizational frameworks.

Negotiation skills:

Strong communicational and rhetorical skills are important to lead difficult negotiations with payers/buying groups.

Customer orientation:

You love to think out of the box and deliver innovative solutions combining customer's and corporate purposes.
