Business description:


This individual contributor is responsible for developing the E2E planning configuration, defining the Net Requirements for DP and API for a Compound, aligning Master Production Schedules and Inventory plans and managing the short term allocation of batches.  These planning processes ultimately serve as an input into the S&OP process.


Description of the role:

Defines the planning configuration of the supply network

•             Aligns and influences where applicable inventory de-coupling points

•             Develops replenishment strategies and reviews alternative sourcing options

•             Sets SC parameters in alignment with plants and suppliers, e.g. batch sizes, frequencies, safety stock levels, lead times, shelf life

 

Drives the development of the constrained E2E production and inventory plans

• Aggregates various demand types across trials and products in collaboration with Clinical Supply Chain Integrators, Trial Supply Managers and CMC Team members, to provide overall demand for Drug Product and API at the compound level.

• Translates the demand into DP and API requirements, including critical components and DP intermediates.

• Ensures correct generation of net requirements (DP, API) across the supply chain. Provides information to the Global Planners and Plant Schedulers to allow master scheduling of packaging and manufacturing campaigns in line with the requirements.

• Is accountable for accurate inventory records across the supply network

• Manages the inventory allocation and expiration dates of Drug Products, API and critical components

• Develops scenarios to avoid or resolve potential supply constraints

• Builds strong internal collaborations and relationships with the Pilot Plants and JSC to drive flexibility and reliability in supply

• Assist and supports the team by taking oversight to other team members if necessary

• Is accountable for adherence to the inventory targets by aligning the master production schedule with the overall product demand

• Utilizes appropriate software (OMP and SAP) to effectively balance demand and supply.


Plays a key role in the S&OP process

• Participates in the Supply Review Meetings to ensure supply plans are committed to in the firm horizon and can be executed upon

• Participates in the Integrated Demand and Supply Review to ensure supply constraints are resolved

• Optimizes the supply plan by developing a deep understanding of the drivers of complexity and influences stakeholders to improve service and reduce complexity, cost and/or lead time.

 

Resolves supply related issues

• Proactively communicate urgencies to the plants or other business partners and take appropriate action to resolve issues

• Is accountable to meet the relevant plan metrics for the compounds in scope, provides input into the On-time delivery metric

• Challenges the status quo and contributes to initiatives to improve business processes and tools.

• Responsible for identifying and developing scenario analysis to drive/support decision making through the cS&OP process.

 

• Challenges the status quo and contributes to initiatives to improve business processes and tools.

• Exemplifies and drives the use of core processes and proper use of systems and  tools in the department, serves as a mentor to others to drive adoption.

• May lead crossfunctional projects with broad Janssen CSC impact

• With limited or no guidance, responsible for managing all aspects of issue escalation and resolution at DP and API level

• Escalation point and interface with the management team via Executive cS&OP

• Identifies and leads innovative projects to significantly improve functional and cross functional processes and tools.

• Functional subject matter expert within the team, acts as a coach and mentor within the team to drive technical and personal development.  Applies functional knowledge to drive department strategy and overall CSC initiatives.

 
Focus and scope:

Responsible for the management of all clinical supplies during trial execution within J&J Pharma R&D.  General focus on large, complex studies and special projects


Qualifications

Critical Experience Required:

• A  university/bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and 6+ years planning experience

• Insight in a production environment, preferably in a pharmaceutical or proces industry

• Experience with planning software preferred (OMP, SAP)

• Experience with several of the following processes: inventory management, supply chain management, supply planning, Lean and 6sigma

• Supply chain certification preferred (e.g. APICS)
• General knowledge of GxP principles

• Intermediate to advanced software skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint)

• Minimum 80% FTE required

•Demonstrates a deep understanding of the E2E supply network, ensures team understanding of the drives impacting the supply network. Pro-actively identifies the need for scenarios and drives the process of scenario development and evaluation together with the team.

• Able to build strong collaborative relationships in a Global organization through influencing, negotiating and partnering

•  Gathers diverse viewpoints and able to influence key stakeholders within the Clinical Supply Chain, and other key cross functional partners

• Leads cross functional/ virtual teams where required.

• Strong analystical skills: Managing complexity and ability to identify process gaps based on data or root case analysis, ability to predict risk/impact of suppy related procsses
