Senior Associate Scientist Analytical Development (Early Protein Characterization group)

The Early Protein Characterization group is part of the Analytical Development (AD) group and is focused on biochemical and biophysical characterization of protein-based vaccines by employing a broad range of state of the art analytical technologies. The Analytical Development group, which is part of the pharmaceutical and analytical department, has a pivotal role between the regulatory authorities, quality unit, and process development. The AD department works closely together with discovery and other process development groups and provides them with advanced analytical expertise.

Job description:

We are looking for a motivated person who enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team. The main tasks will be designing and executing biochemistry and biophysics experiments and analyzing biochemical and biophysical data. The ideal candidate will have proven and robust theoretical and experimental track record in mass spectrometry including intact mass measurements, peptide mapping, post-translational modifications detection. The candidate is expected to design and execute HDX-MS experiments focused on protein vaccine conformational analysis and epitope mapping. Knowledge of biophysical technologies including UV-VIS spectroscopy, circular dichroism, multi-angle and dynamic light scattering, capillary isoelectric focusing, electrophoresis, isothermal and differential scanning calorimetry, Octet, Elisa is a plus. Further responsibilities include instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, written reporting and oral presentations in different settings.



Minimum Qualifications:

MSc in biochemistry, biophysics and/or protein chemistry and proven track record in mass spectrometry AND protein biochemistry/biophysics



The successful candidate is flexible, has a scientific mind set and likes team work and outside the box approaches. He/She is eager to share his/her knowledge and keen to explore new technologies. Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team are equally important as independent planning and execution of tasks.
