The Global Hotel Category / APAC Travel Operations Lead will be responsible for setting the strategy and the day-to-day operation of the category, mostly focusing on the Global Hotel Program and APAC travel operations. This individual will be responsible for the development, implementation and on-going management of plans for the category that are in line with and support overall business travel objectives. This individual will lead the procurement related business activities at the company and in the management of the relationship of the preferred global hotel suppliers and APAC specific business travel suppliers. This individual will lead and/or take part in the review and monitoring of the supplier performance and assist in the implementation of the procurement activities and supplier strategies as outlined by the Category Leads. This individual will plan and direct activities and deliver against targets for quality, service and compliance adherence.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage J&J’s Global Hotel Program, including the execution of the annual global hotel RFP, leading continuous improvement of the global hotel program and ensuring category and program milestones/goals are met
  • Lead the APAC business travel operations strategy development and execution
  • Prepare quarterly global hotel savings review and perform savings update in saving reporting tool
  • Facilitate supplier business reviews; establishing cadence and maintaining effective communications with global hotel suppliers and suppliers unique to the APAC region
  • Administer and monitor the travel policies with emphasis to hotels and guidelines specific to the APAC region to deliver efficient services to travelers and stakeholders
  • Manage relationship between APAC stakeholders, J&J’s preferred agencies and other suppliers
  • Summarize issues and actions taken on escalated problems for management and execute on resolutions
  • Provide continuing analysis and development of technology and systems in area of travel, specifically with hotels, plus agency operations unique to the APAC region
  • Align with regional and global procurement peers in order to harmonize and optimize buying processes (eMP, Cat Cards)
  • Assist in developing and monitoring the regional category Business Plan 
  • Facilitate the development, implementation, and maintenance of processes, policies, guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures, and Business Operating Principles
  • Provide input and support to broader global travel category objectives and initiatives
  • Responsible for maintaining extensive knowledge of the travel industry with emphasis on hotels, through reviewing reports on key market trends and engaging with internal and external peers/contacts

Required Minimum Education: Bachelor or equivalent; MBA or Master preferred;
Preferred Area of Study: Business, life sciences or related field
Required Years of Related Experience: +7 years; Experienced professional within a Procurement environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skill with ability to confidently present complex information

  • Able to prioritize requests, and propose effective cost/customer service alternatives when necessary
  • Level of proficiency with core Procurement skills (e.g., supplier management and performance, supply market analysis, Category Management, Procurement Excellence, etc.)
  • Ability to develop level of credibility with internal customers, and with the supplier community
  • Ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of stakeholders (e.g., businesses, Procurement LT, Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain)
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment
  • Domestic and International travelling is required for the role (around 10% to 20%)
