Postdoctoral Fellowship in Small Molecule API Process R&D –
The Janssen postdoctoral fellowship in Process Research and Development is aimed at supporting excellent scientists to develop new skills while working at the cutting edge of science and innovation and fulfill their dream to be part of chemical process development in the future.
API Small Molecule Development within Janssen employs hundreds of scientific researchers and specialized technicians at its sites in Beerse, Belgium and Schaffhausen, Switzerland. Our R&D activities span the development of processes for the supply of New Chemical Entities to the design of commercial manufacturing routes for our medicines. Thus, new chemical processes are developed to meet the requirements of safety, environment, technology, economy and quality. We are also responsible for the generation of detailed process knowledge to guarantee successful development and registration of new medicines.
Due to the recent growth of our development pipeline and expansion of our in-house development group, we are currently looking for highly-motivated people with an in-depth understanding of synthetic organic chemistry, excellent experimental skills, and the willingness to work in an international environment.
Job offer and responsibility:
You will become part of a highly motivated and diverse project team in an international setting and will learn the art and science of process research and development, allowing you to design robust, scalable, environmentally friendly and cost-effective chemical manufacturing processes.
We offer state-of-the-art research labs and equipment such as automated lab reactors and PAT probes, as well as open access UPLC, GC, LC/MS and NMR equipment.
You will work hands-on in important development programs, intended to cover unmet medical need for patients worldwide.
You will collaborate globally with functional experts for particle design and crystallization, process safety, preparative separation technique, process engineering, and analytics.
Our daily work also includes an external component. You will learn to collaborate with CROs and CMOs worldwide to achieve your project goals.
The postdoc position is located in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. We offer a 12-month temporary contract with the option of another 12-month extension.
• PhD in organic chemistry
• Proficiency in English
