The Planning Excellence BPO will be reporting within the ETH/ CSS Planning Excellence organization (part of Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Supply Chain). Planning Excellence is responsible to improve the maturity of core planning processes (demand planning, supply planning, production planning, S&OP) by introducing innovative supply chain capabilities.


The Planning Excellence manager will drive transformational changes within his / hers planning area, in collaboration with the respective EPEX lead and will successfully guide the organization through these changes. He / she will establish key partnership to ensure alignment and success.

  • Deploying planning strategies and key transformational projects as product owner (such as OMP implementation)
  • Assessing plan maturity, shaping and implementing the plan maturity strategy and roadmap for assigned planning processes & systems, ensuring alignment to One MD plan transformation and other cross-functional programs
  • Driving process standardization and ensure best practices are established throughout the business communities by leading the Capability Execution Team (CET)
  • Representing the Planning Excellence group in all aspects with key stakeholders (preferably EES) to drive the linkage and ensure alignment with business expectations
  • Ensuring all system solutions are consistently meeting the needs of the business, taking action to address break-fix issues while also managing efforts to improve business capabilities via system enhancements where applicable
  • Driving global process benchmarking and market trends monitoring, as well as strategy and roadmap definitions
  • Governing operational stability of legacy processes and tools to ensure appropriate business process execution where applicable
  • Partnering with the J&J Enterprise Planning Excellence (EPEX) representing ETH/CSS PEX
Partnering with global Supply Chain teams to identify, rationalize, and prioritize the desired process & systems enhancements intended to strengthen planning capabilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with preference in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering or equivalent/Advanced degree/MBA preferred
    • PMP, FPX SME, lean / 6S Black Belt or equivalent certifications preferred
    • APICS certification (CPIM, CFPIM or CIRM) preferred
    • Other certifications in areas of expertise desirable
    • Minimum Ten (8) years of relevant experience required
    • Minimum Three (3) years of people management experience Required
    • Project and Program management experience, including scoping, planning, execution and resource management required
    • Experience with Planning Systems (e.g. SAP APO, JDA/Manugistics, Demantra/PDP, OMP+) preferred
    • Experience with Process Excellence/Six Sigma tools, training and/or certification is required
    • Experience successfully implementing change across multiple organizations with cross functional stakeholders required
    • Global experience preferred
    Knowledge, Skills and capabilities:  
    • Excellent grasp of planning processes and functions, with a strong understanding of end-to-end planning processes required
    • Knowledge of ETH / CSS Supply Chain processes and systems preferred
    • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Project and Access required
    • Strong communication skills (inlc. to senior leadership) with the ability to adjust to the audience (business vs. technical, professionals vs. leadership) is required
    • Ability to develop, master and maintain complex technology skills, with demonstrated experience as a subject matter expert is required
    • Ability to translate complex topics into simple, workable solutions required
    • Global experience preferred

Location of Role:   Brussels Belgium or Somerville NJ preferred

Language Requirements: English

Travel Requirements:   10 - 25% travel domestically and internationally, depending on location
