Global Safety Data Senior Scientist

Location: Warsaw, Poland

Full time permanent contract


Role Overview:


Office based position responsible for writing product safety data sheets (SDS) for finished cosmetics and drugs in accordance with country-specific regulatory requirements.


You will have the following areas of responsibility:

  • Create finished product safety data sheets using an SDS authoring software
  • Ensure data associated with a formula and product specifications is included and evaluated to create a finished product SDS
  • Document the rationale for a hazard classification for each SDS
  • Work under a Team Leader to develop standard operating procedures and identify opportunities to streamline the process


Qualifications and experience of the successful candidate:

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years direct industry experience or 2 years with PhD. Ideally, you will also have some global experience in authoring SDSs.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the United Nation’s Purple Book, OSHA Hazardous Communication, EU CLP, Australia, China, Brazil, and Mexico regulations regarding hazard classification and SDSs.
  • Experience performing hazard classifications of human health, physical and environmental hazards.
  • Understand country-specific regulatory requirements associated with the requirements of safety data sheets
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of transportation regulations including, TDG, DOT, DGR, IATA, ICAO, IMDG and other country-specific requirements.
  • Experience classifying mixtures and authoring SDS without relying on software rules
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English 
  • Structured and well-organized with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, both internal and external to the organization
