For our Consumer Health Care department, we are looking for an EMEA Material Management Project Lead to be hired with a PermanentContract.
This role is available in multiple locations: Santa Palomba-Pomezia (Rome) Italy; Wuppertal (Germany); Val De Reuil or Sezanne (France); Mandra Attiki (Greece).

The Materials Management Project Lead is responsible for the implementation of the key projects and the governance of all projects – regionally and locally – related to materials management, from both the OTC and Non-OTC categories across EMEA.  The projects in scope include - but are not limited to - changes initiated by the suppliers and BCP’s (business continuity planning) projects.

This role will identify, escalate, consolidate and govern all projects in the materials space and will lead cross-functional teams to successfully deliver the key projects in the portfolio. The Materials Management Project Lead will make sure that all projects are known, escalated, staffed, budgeted, resourced and delivered. He/she is responsible for tracking and reporting on progress over the portfolio of projects and will be supported by different functions in the implementation, governance and coordination.

Key responsibilities include:

Implement key projects in OTC and non-OTC in the materials management area

  • This includes projects related to materials coming from suppliers and initiated internally (typically BCP’s, material transfers,...)
  • This excludes CIP’s (Cost Improvement Projects) generated - led and governed by the Sourcing team - and New Product Development or Introduction projects that are supported by the Project Management Team
  • This also excludes activities done by the technical and source teams to support the execution of these projects.
Govern project portfolio related to materials management.
  • This includes all change projects related to materials coming from suppliers and initiated internally (typically BCP’s, material transfers,...)
  • This excludes CIP’s generated, led and governed by the Sourcing team
  • This also excludes activities done by the technical and source teams to support the execution of these projects.

Governing the project portfolio related to materials management includes the following:

  • Project detection
  • Project definition with the cross-functional team
  • Project staffing/sourcing and budgeting through the existing governance forums
  • Enable the fluid evaluation and approval of above-mentioned projects within EMEA.
  • Tracking project progress and escalating progress gaps
  • Execution of the projects that don’t need to be supported by the technical teams
  • Governing Plan/MSM resources to ensure feasibility of the entire project portfolio for the Plan/MSM community
  • Support local Plan/MSM teams in execution of the above-mentioned projects
  • Lead, Identify, communicate, and resolve key issues with executive sponsors or key managers. Provide ongoing status communications to all levels of the organization.

Define and harmonize Materials Management Project Roles and Responsabilities across the Plan organization in EMEA, for both OTC and non-OTC suppliers

Drive the triage meeting set up by Packaging Material Center to review changes notified by suppliers and ensure ownership and execution of these projects, supported by the Sciformix team


The position will be measured primarily on:

  • Improvements to customer service & reliability metrics
  • Timely execution of the materials-related projects



  • Master’s degree in Economics or Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in roles in Supply Chain.
  • Pro-active governance: Assess risks and develop contingency plans for material-related projects that are escalated.  Ensure that the right functions take ownership on the right levels and lead delivery of the key projects in the portfolio
  • Clear communication: Partner with the EMEA MSM Lead to ensure communication occurs in a timely manner, delays are escalated, resource gaps are identified, risks are mitigated and stakeholders are aligned across multiple levels.
  • Service-orientation: Quickly understand the supply chain and associated technologies for the assigned remediation projects to ensure sound and compliant decision making and rapid implementation of projects to avoid customer service (Unit Fill Rate) impacts.
  • Manage cross functional teams:  includes representation from Supply Chain Planning, Procurement, Research & Development, Operations, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Finance, Logistics and internal / external manufacturing sites.
  • Project management: Utilize Project Management dashboards, project metrics and lessons learned to improve customer service.
  • Process improvement: Improve and own the processes, tools and Roles and Responsibilities related to Materials Management Project management
