The Business Technology Manager drives engagement with business counterparts and works with the Business Technology Lead in detailed insight & opportunity generation, demand sensing or shaping, project execution and change-management needed to develop and evolve strategy and drive business goals. Focus horizontally across specific business segments with deep business knowledge and work with the product line organization to identify opportunities and product line activation.


Main Accountabilities:


Business Partnership

  • Develop deep domain knowledge of business and build both horizontal and vertical relationships with business and Johnson & Johnson Technology (JJT) to deliver business impact
  • Promote and role model customer-centricity and learning mindset in addressing business and customers’ needs and vision
  • Looks horizontally across the business conduct business process analysis to identify opportunities or gaps where JJT can deliver
  • Shape Demand by influence/collaborate internally and externally to drive strategy execution and solutions delivery
  • Advice and consult on opportunities for technology and drive product line capabilities when relevant

Execution, Operations & Technical Incubation

  • The “Doer” that supports the Business Technology Lead by building lower-level business connections, developing insights and identifying opportunities to help drive strategy
  • Support Change Management and Ensure delivery of desired results, with use of JJT methodologies (e.G. Agile, Design Thinking), processes and capabilities
  • Maintain awareness of project execution and Support JJT functions succeed, foresee and proactively address potential technical challenges
  • Drive Business Case creation and high-level Business Requirements or User Stories gathering and solution definition
  • Experiment/Pilot new or niche technologies to meet business needs with a defined end-point to transition to product line for scaling or not

External Presence & Strategy

  • Develop competitive market knowledge by focusing externally
  • Own Technology ROI, steer strategic technology investments to successful business value realization
  • Provide visible technical leadership to business and customers, bring outside-in and fresh perspectives by routinely developing and using community relationships, connecting with industry peers and other sources, participating at business, customers and external events

  • 10 years of experience in senior IT and Business roles
  • Minimum 5 Years in IT business planning, IT Continuous Improvement, IT Business Process Reengineering and Budgeting/Controlling
  • Bachelor’s Degree and related professional IT experience
  • Proven ability to use quality and lean concepts for IT process simplification and customer satisfaction
  • Builds networks that include peers and senior IT and business management across the J&J organization
  • Can interact with all different levels of the organization to include executive management and board members
  • Experience working with senior business leaders
  • Proven track record of delivery in complex, ambiguous and changing environments
  • Good business understanding of a pharmaceutical commercial organization
  • Compliance knowledge as well as experience in working in a controlled and audited environment
  • Is able to translate business needs into technical and process solutions
  • Understanding of business issues and strategy, and the ability to factor them into technical direction and recommendations
  • Fluent in German, very good verbal and written English skills and communications abilities
